What does a Twitch Stream Manager do?

A Twitch Stream Manager oversees and coordinates the operations of a Twitch channel, ensuring streams run smoothly and effectively engage viewers. Their responsibilities typically include scheduling streams, moderating chat, managing stream content, analyzing channel performance, and collaborating with streamers and moderators. They may also handle technical issues, implement strategies for growth, and interact with the community to foster a positive environment. The role is essential for streamers who want to focus on creating content while maintaining a professional and organized channel.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Twitch Stream Manager?

To thrive as a Twitch Stream Manager, you need expertise in content strategy, audience engagement, and analytics, often supported by experience in digital marketing or social media management. Familiarity with streaming platforms, Twitch analytics tools, and graphic/video editing software is typically required. Strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to adapt quickly to trends help someone stand out in this role. These skills are essential for growing channels, optimizing content performance, and maintaining an active, engaged community on Twitch.

How does a Twitch Stream Manager typically collaborate with content creators and moderators to enhance channel growth?

A Twitch Stream Manager works closely with content creators to develop streaming schedules, coordinate special events, and implement strategies for audience engagement. They also communicate regularly with moderators to ensure chat rules are enforced and to address any issues that arise during live streams. By facilitating clear communication and aligning the team around shared goals, the Stream Manager helps create a positive viewing experience and drives channel growth. Regular meetings and feedback sessions are common practices to adapt strategies and respond to viewer trends.

Job description

About Us

Twitch is the world's biggest live streaming service, with global communities built around gaming, entertainment, music, sports, cooking, and more. It is where thousands of communities come together for whatever, every day.

We're about community, inside and out. You'll find coworkers who are eager to team up, collaborate, and smash (or elegantly solve) problems together. We're on a quest to empower live communities, so if this sounds good to you, see what we're up to on LinkedInย andย X,ย  and discover the projects we're solving on ourย Blog. Be sure to explore ourย Interviewing Guideย to learn how to ace our interview process.

About the Team

Twitch Security Platform builds and operates the foundational software, data, and automation that enable security at scale across Twitch. As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) on the Security Platform team, you will design, build, and operate critical services, pipelines, and tooling that power Twitch's security, privacy, and compliance programs.

About the Role

Twitch Security Platform builds and operates the foundational software, data, and automation that enable security at scale across Twitch. As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II) on the Security Platform team, you will design, build, and operate critical services, pipelines, and tooling that power Twitch's security, privacy, and compliance programs.
In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, security, privacy, and data engineering, contributing production systems that handle large-scale security telemetry, automate security workflows, and provide reliable data and services to internal teams. You will partner closely with engineers and product teams to solve real-world security problems through well-designed software.

You will own projects end-to-end from design and implementation through deployment and operational support for the systems that are business-critical and highly visible. The problems you work on will span areas such as security data ingestion and processing, detection and response automation, service-to-service authentication, vulnerability management, and privacy engineering. This is a broad platform charter, and priorities shift as the security landscape does; you should be energized by a wide surface area and comfortable moving fluidly between systems rather than anchored to a single one.ย

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working in ambiguous problem spaces, values operational excellence, enables peers, and wants to see their work directly improve Twitch's security posture at scale.

You can work from San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA; or Seattle, WA.

You Will:
  • Own and deliver well-scoped software projects end-to-end, from design through production support.
  • Partner across Security, Identity, Privacy, and Infrastructure on Twitch-wide initiatives.
  • ย Drive operational excellence: observability, reliability, and operational readiness for critical systems.
  • Raise the engineering bar through design reviews, code reviews, clear technical decision-making and validation including AI-assisted output.
  • Participate in, retrospectives, and technical discussions, influencing decisions through technical leadership.
You Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years building and operating production backend services with end-to-end ownership (design, deploy, operate).
  • Deep fluency in a modern language (Go, Java, Python, or similar).
  • Hands-on AWS: designing, deploying, and operating production services or pipelines, with IaC and safe rollout.
  • Comfort driving clarity in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces.
  • A track record of leading technical projects that span multiple services and parallel workstreams
  • Strong cross-team communication able to disagree with data and commit once decided.
Bonus Points
  • Full-stack experience ownership across backend APIs and frontend experiences.
  • Familiarity with security, data, and privacy systems, such as security or audit data lakes, cloud authentication and authorization flows, vulnerability scanning and remediation pipelines, and privacy or compliance-driven workflows (e.g., CCPA, GDPR-related controls).
  • Experience working with large-scale event or log data, including event-driven architectures, asynchronous processing, or batch/streaming pipelines.
  • Experience integrating AI-assisted development or analysis tools into engineering workflows, such as using LLM-powered tooling, automation, or MCP-style platforms to improve developer productivity or system insight.
  • Familiarity with Twitch, either as a viewer or creator (or both!)
Perks
  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount
