A TWIC Card Driver is a commercial truck driver who holds a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) issued by the TSA. This credential allows them to access secure maritime facilities, ports, and other restricted areas without an escort. TWIC Card Drivers often transport goods to and from these locations, ensuring compliance with federal security regulations. Many trucking jobs that involve transporting cargo through ports require a TWIC card for legal access.

What skills and qualifications are needed to be a Twic Card driver?

To thrive as a Twic Card Driver, you need a valid commercial driver's license (CDL), a clean driving record, and a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card, ensuring eligibility for secure port and maritime facility access. Strong attention to detail, dependability, and good communication skills are essential for following protocols and working with dispatchers or port personnel. These abilities are crucial for maintaining security, safety, and efficiency while navigating regulated, high-security environments.

What types of locations or facilities does a Twic Card driver typically access?

As a TWIC Card Driver, you will regularly enter secure maritime and port facilities, such as shipping terminals, docks, and distribution centers that handle regulated cargo. Your TWIC card grants you special clearance for these high-security areas, where you may be responsible for transporting containers and goods to and from ships or warehouses. You’ll work in close coordination with port security, gate personnel, and logistics staff to ensure all movements comply with federal security standards. The work environment can be busy and fast-paced, with an emphasis on safety and adherence to established protocols.
