The surgeon will be a member of the Division of Surgical Oncology, Section of General Surgical Oncology and Endocrine Surgery which includes 12 full-time surgeons, four of whom practice in this Section. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, with colleagues in medical oncology, radiation oncology, and additional specialists in the MaineHealth Cancer Care Network. A clinical interest in cutaneous oncology and melanoma, sarcoma, and peritoneal disease is preferred. The MaineHealth Cancer Care Network supports robust clinical and translational research efforts, with membership in both NCORP and the NCI cooperative groups.
MaineHealth is a nationally recognized integrated care system that delivers highly coordinated, state-of-the-art care across a network that cares for over 8,000 new cancer patients each year. The cancer programs have grown significantly over the past three years and exceed 80% market share across the state of Maine. The programs are academically affiliated with the Tufts University School of Medicine, and the selected candidate is expected to secure an appointment at the appropriate rank at Tufts University School of Medicine. Maine Medical Center (MMC) serves as the flagship of MaineHealth's integrated delivery system in southern and central Maine and New Hampshire. MMC has 750 licensed beds and is the state's leading tertiary care hospital and Level I Trauma Center. MMC currently supports over 240 residents and fellows in 14 residencies and 9 fellowships approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
