About KOLO:

KOLO 8 News Now is the ABC and Telemundo affiliate television station serving the Reno/Sparks area, Northern Nevada, and parts of eastern California. KOLO broadcasts seven hours of news weekdays. We are also dedicated to serving the community through KOLO Cares, partnering with area non-profit organizations.

Job Summary/Description:

KOLO is seeking a meteorologist to present the forecast and cover severe weather for the 11 am and 3 pm newscasts, Monday through Friday. This position also serves as a morning and evening weekday fill-in. Meteorologists are also required to update the weather section of kolotv.com and provide weather-related content on the station's social media pages and digital weather app.

Daily duties include creating and presenting forecasts for weekday newscasts, posting weather-related updates and information to the station website/social media pages/KOLO weather app, and being a representative of KOLO TV at community events.

Please note - primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the information listed above 

Qualifications/Requirements:

- The optimum candidate will have a degree in meteorology or associated sciences and/or experience forecasting in our region.
- Experience with The Weather Company's Max system is a must.
- A seal of approval from the National Weather Association and/or certification from the American Meteorological Society is/are also preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish speaker is a plus.
