How much do tv watcher jobs pay per hour?

As of Jul 24, 2026, the average hourly pay for tv watcher in the United States is $17.39, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $14.42 and $19.47 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a TV Watcher, and why are they important?

To thrive as a professional TV Watcher (such as a content reviewer or quality control specialist), you need a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a solid understanding of media content standards, typically supported by a background in communications or media studies. Familiarity with content management systems, video editing software, and compliance monitoring tools is often required. Excellent time management, communication, and critical thinking skills help you efficiently assess and report on large volumes of content. These abilities ensure accurate content evaluation, adherence to guidelines, and effective collaboration with production teams.

What are TV Watchers?

TV Watchers are individuals who are paid to watch television programs, commercials, or streaming content and provide feedback, data, or analysis. Their work often involves rating shows, identifying trends, or ensuring that content meets certain standards. TV Watchers may be employed by networks, research companies, or streaming services to help improve programming or gather viewer insights. The job can sometimes include tracking advertisements or monitoring for compliance with regulations.

What is the difference between Tv Watcher vs Video Content Reviewer?

AspectTv WatcherVideo Content Reviewer
Required CredentialsNone specific, general media interestBasic understanding of content guidelines, sometimes certifications
Work EnvironmentHome or entertainment settings, passive viewingOffice or remote, active content analysis
Industry UsageMedia, entertainment, streaming servicesMedia, social media, online platforms
Search/Comparison IntentEntertainment, viewing habitsContent moderation, quality control

While a Tv Watcher primarily enjoys and observes television content, a Video Content Reviewer actively evaluates videos for quality and compliance. The reviewer role involves understanding content guidelines and often requires basic certifications, whereas a Tv Watcher is more passive. Both roles are common in media industries but serve different purposes: entertainment versus content moderation.

What are some common challenges faced by professional TV Watchers, and how can they overcome them?

Professional TV Watchers often need to maintain focus during long viewing sessions, which can be mentally taxing. Staying attentive to detail is crucial, especially when logging scenes or identifying content for specific purposes, such as compliance or research. To overcome fatigue and maintain productivity, it's important to take regular breaks, use note-taking tools efficiently, and collaborate with team members to share insights or split workloads. Adopting effective time management strategies ensures that deadlines are met while maintaining high-quality work.

Job Summary/Description:

Madison's most-watched news station, WMTV, has an immediate opening for an MMJ/Weekend Producer in one of the country's top places to live. Madison is a vibrant capital city and college town known for its award-winning farmers' market, incredible outdoor lifestyle, and a growing community of young professionals.

We're looking for a versatile, driven journalist who is equally at home in the field and in the control room. As an MMJ/ Producer at WMTV, you'll spend your weekends leading our newscasts as producer and your weekdays in the field — gathering, shooting, and reporting stories that matter to southern Wisconsin.

This is not a role for someone who wants to do one thing. It's a role for someone who loves all of it.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Weekend Producing (Saturday & Sunday):
- Produce 1–2 newscasts per day with strong story selection, compelling teases, and clean show flow
- Make real-time editorial decisions during breaking news situations with minimal supervision
- Collaborate with anchors, meteorologists, and directors to deliver a polished, audience-first broadcast
- Write and edit copy, teases, and anchor reads under deadline pressure
- Understand our DMA, key target audiences, and where they live.
- Write and post copy daily on all digital platforms as new information is learned and throughout your assigned shift. This includes copy for wmtv15news.com, social media, our news app, our digital desk, and within our television newscasts.

Weekday Reporting (Three Days a Week):
- Shoot, write, edit, and present original news packages and live reports
- Gather content with a multi-platform mindset — thinking about what works on social and digital, not just on air
- File social content including vertical videos from the field in real time when news warrants it
- Develop and maintain sources across the Madison market and southern Wisconsin
- Contribute story ideas that serve our broadcast AND digital audiences

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Experience in both broadcast producing and MMJ reporting
- Strong editorial judgment, especially in breaking news situations
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines simultaneously
- A digital-aware mindset: you think about your audience on every platform, not just the one watching at 6:00 pm
- Excellent writing skills, tight, active, conversational broadcast copy
- Self-motivated and dependable; weekends require someone who leads without being managed
- Must have a desire to win, a positive attitude, and the ability to reflect on your work and apply feedback
- Ability to work a combination of dayside and nightside shifts, as well as overtime when warranted for breaking news or special coverage
- Valid driver's license and ability to drive a company vehicle
- A journalism-related degree is preferred, but not required; experience and demonstrated skill matter most.
- Must be able to carry 35+ pounds of gear, and be experienced in shooting and editing unique content. We do have photographers to partner with on appropriate assignments.
