Job Summary/Description:
Atlanta News First is looking for our next MMJ for ATL Live, our Lifestyle show airing M-F on WANF. The MMJ will be a well-rounded journalist who can connect with the community. Strong ad-libbing skills and proven experience as an on-air personality are required. The position is for a "people person" who can identify relevant and trending topics, connect with our guests and audience, and generate engaging lifestyle content daily. The ideal candidate will have a great lifestyle news sense, experience writing, shooting, and editing content, and experience working with clients and the community. We are looking for someone who displays professionalism and personality, on and off the air. This is a unique position that works in Creative Services and collaborates with our sales team.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Must be able to write, shoot, and edit.
• Appear live on location for multiple hits during shows as needed.
• Ability to engage and connect with a diverse audience.
• Shoot and serve as talent for client segments.
• Work with Producers to create two to three enterprise packages each week, showcasing creativity and storytelling skills.
• Pitching local story ideas for the show
• Assisting the Producer with writing show segments
• Assist with the ATL Live social media account and assist with all online content for the website
• Interviewing show guests/clients both in-studio and on-location
• Research and present stories on the air
• Greeting and assisting guests during show preparations
• Researching show topics and developing questions for guests in coordination with the Producer
• Participating in events, either station-sponsored or others, to promote the show
• Closely working with the sales team and the executive producer on sponsored content
• Serve as a fill-in host on the morning lifestyle show as needed.
• Must have the ability to stay up to date on current events, what's popular, trendy, etc.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Proven experience as an MMJ, host, or on-air personality
• Skilled in writing scripts for broadcast and digital platforms
• Proficient in shooting and editing video independently (Adobe Premiere, Edius, etc.)
• Resume reel required
• Ability to lift and carry equipment, including tripod, camera, and lights
• Ability to produce content in the field independently
• Strong ad-libbing and interview skills
• Ability to prioritize and address multiple projects with varying production timelines
• Team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and comes to the table every day with positive energy.
• Willingness to have a flexible schedule.
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter, able to work well alone and as part of a team
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Thrives on feedback
