Service Division

Your Role:

The Field Service Technician provides technical service and support to Customers, Barbizon Atlanta Systems Division and Vendors.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide support and troubleshooting to customers, both onsite and remotely via phone or electronic messaging
  • Support and collaborate with internal team members and external stakeholders as required to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Read, interpret and understand wiring diagrams and construction documents
  • Collaborate with colleagues, contractors and users to build, startup and maintain new lighting control systems
  • Troubleshoot existing lighting control systems for regular maintenance and repair
  • Evaluate existing systems and document ongoing needs to create service and maintenance recommendations
  • Respond to emergency repair calls during and after business hours
  • Perform service, maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems inhouse or in the field, as needed
  • Maintain organization of customer service files and data
  • Assemble and configure lighting control equipment racks, fixtures and accessories
  • Understand, install and configure system software
  • Design graphical user interfaces for front end theatrical and architectural controllers
  • Provide training on operation and maintenance of lighting controls equipment and systems to new and existing customers and colleagues
  • Create field and inhouse reports and other documentation as required; provide accurate reporting on servicerelated activities to Project Management, Technical Services Manager
  • Document necessary billing details for repairs and technical services
  • Secure and return completed startup and training documentation for each new system
  • Keep updated and informed of new products and system operational software
  • Attend online and inperson factory training courses with appropriate frequency to maintain necessary technical support certifications and keep updated and informed of new products and system operational software
  • Setup, connect and operate equipment for inhouse and infield demonstrations
  • Required skills include:
  • Basic Electrical Knowledge, including knowledge of high voltage safety
  • Knowledge of entertainment dimming and control systems
  • Working knowledge of stage and film lighting fixtures, controls and accessories, along with their typical usage in the field
  • Understanding of current lighting technology, including network and control protocols (DMX, RDM, SACN, 010 analog, etc.) a plus
  • Selfmotivated while being able to collaborate with others and follow direction
  • High level of organizational ability and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and work well within time constraints
  • High proficiency troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office, Windows environment
  • Willingness and availability for overnight travel
  • Strong technical understanding of current lighting technology
  • Good understanding of personal limitations
  • Ability to work well with installers and endusers of all skill levels
  • Qualifications & Experience:
  • Background and practical experience in technical aspects of entertainment and architectural lighting systems
  • Technical Entertainment degree in Theatrical, Film or Broadcast fields, or comparable work experience or equivalent Technical School or Military training

    The salary range for a Field Service Technician at Barbizon Lighting’s Atlanta location is currently $55,000 to $65,000 per annum, depending upon experience. Please be aware, extensive industry experience or specific skills that fully match, or exceed what is required, may in fact increase this range. We strongly encourage all to apply.

    In addition to the base pay listed here, Barbizon offers a generous compensation package including medical, dental, life insurance, long-term disability, profit share, and a matching 401k Plan at no cost to the employee. The Company fully funds Barbizon’s healthcare benefits for all full-time employees and dependents.
