Job description

We are seeking dedicated and passionate in-person tutors to work with elementary, middle school, and high school students. We are currently looking for tutors who can support one or more of the following subject areas: high school or middle school Biology, and high school Chemistry.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in their subject area, the ability to explain concepts clearly, and a patient, encouraging teaching style. Tutors should be able to adapt their approach based on each student’s needs and learning style. In addition to tutoring sessions, tutors will be responsible for writing detailed progress reports after each session and creating customized lesson plans when needed, for which they will receive compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

Individualized Instruction: Provide one-on-one in-person tutoring sessions based on the student’s grade level, subject, academic goals, and learning style.

Subject Support: Tutor students in: Biology and / or Chemistry.

Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Assess students’ progress regularly and write a simple progress reports after each session. Reports should summarize what was covered, the student’s performance, areas of improvement, and recommended next steps. It should only take 5-10 minutes after each class (we pay per progress report), and you will be compensated for this.

Homework Assistance: Assist students with homework assignments while ensuring they understand the material and can apply the concepts independently.

Skill Building: Help students build confidence, problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, reading and writing skills, and subject-specific understanding.

Test Preparation: Prepare students for school exams, quizzes, standardized tests, and other assessments by reviewing key concepts, providing practice problems, and teaching effective test-taking strategies.

Student Engagement: Create a positive, supportive, and motivating learning environment that helps students stay engaged and confident.

Qualifications:

Strong knowledge in one or more of the following subject areas: Biology and Chemistry

Prior tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or childcare experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in Biology, Chemistry, Science Education, or a related field preferred.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to explain concepts clearly and adjust teaching methods based on the student’s needs.

Patient, reliable, professional, and enthusiastic about working with students.

Ability to create lesson plans, provide clear feedback, and write detailed session progress reports.

Must be willing to complete a background check.
