Job description

SUMMARY

Responsible for directly tutoring individuals by asking and answering questions and demonstrating examples relating to the subject.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Tutor developmental math and workforce students in any setting except online.

2. Tutor college-level transfer courses in supplemental instruction model only.

3. Ask and answer academic questions, using examples relating to a particular subject.

4. Provide analytic and diagnostic services for students increasing affective work results.

5. Process new students assuring individuals' learning needs are met.

6. Provide support services required during semester.

7. Evaluate and recommend tutoring materials.

8. May tutor in other developmental areas under the supervision of a Tutor II or Faculty Tutor.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed above. The qualifications listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION

High school diploma or GED required.

Some college credit hours preferred.

Applicant must have completed at least 1 college course in the subject area being tutored with a grade of A.

EXPERIENCE

1 year work experience in post-secondary institution tutoring setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.

2. Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills.

3. Possess good interpersonal skills to perform successfully in a large multicultural environment.

4. Able to be well organized, task-oriented and flexible.

5. Able to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends.
