Peer Tutor
Lakewood, Colorado
Target Salary: $15.16 an hour
Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is looking for Peer Tutors. Peer Tutors are responsible for providing academic support to students and assisting the coordinators in the administration for the Student Learning Center.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated academic excellence in writing, reading comprehension, and academic major.
  • Ability to relate well to students, faculty, and administration.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA (which must be maintained throughout the term).
  • Graphic Design major with successful completion of appropriate RMCAD courses.
  • Junior, Senior or Graduate standing at start of employment preferred.
  • Minimum availability of five hours a week in one or two blocks of time. Experienced tutors are eligible for additional hours.

Tutor Duties Include:
  • Attending tutor-training sessions as scheduled (1% per term).
  • One-on-one tutoring to assist students in academic learning in both their major (45% daily) and Liberal Arts courses including writing and Art History (47% daily) as assigned.
  • Maintaining tutoring records (2% daily).
  • Running study sessions as needed (1% per term).
  • Scheduling tutoring sessions as needed (1% daily).
  • Scheduling and proctoring tests as needed (1% per term).
  • Outreach to students through informational class visits as assigned (1% per term).
  • Other administrative duties as assigned (1% per term).
  • Other Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Maintaining communication with SLC staff through email.
  • Tutor must adhere to the Student Code of Conduct and all other policies and procedures outlined in the Student Handbook and are always a professional representation of RMCAD and the Learning Center.
  • Tutor must maintain a positive, welcoming attitude.
  • Tutor will participate in a performance evaluation process.

Pay Range: $15.16 per hour
