JOB DESCRIPTION
- FULL TIME / 9.5 MONTHS

The Sim Lab Assistant assists the Sim Lab Manager and faculty with sim labs specific to clinical nursing courses. This role assists students with practicing sim lab skills and tutor students.

This position works in simulation laboratories, skills labs, and clinical learning environments and requires interaction with simulation technologies, audiovisual systems, and healthcare training equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Simulation Event Setup and Support

  • Assist with the setup, execution, and breakdown of simulation activities by preparing rooms, equipment, supplies, and manikin moulage according to scenario design and faculty requirements.
  • Operate high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, audiovisual (AV) systems, and other simulation-related technologies during scheduled sessions.
  • Provide in-person and remote technical support during simulation events to ensure smooth operation and continuity.

Simulation Technology Maintenance

  • Perform basic maintenance and troubleshooting of high-fidelity manikins, task trainers, AV systems, and other simulation equipment under the guidance of the Sim Lab Director/Manager.
  • Assist with tracking equipment readiness through documentation and inventory procedures.
  • Coordinate with the Sim Lab Manager to arrange repairs or external technical support as needed.

Inventory and Resource Management

  • Assist the Sim Lab Director/Manager with maintaining organized inventories of simulation supplies, consumables, replacement parts, and related resources.
  • Support procurement processes for new equipment and consumables necessary for ongoing simulation operations.
  • Provide operational support to faculty and simulation educators in the use of simulation equipment during sessions.

Collaboration and Training

  • Participate in team meetings focused on workflow improvement, scheduling, and event planning.
  • Proctors computerized tests as needed.
  • Assists with other related teaching duties as assigned or required including appropriate nursing content to students according to availability and need such as course tutoring, skills-check offs, etc.
  • Provide basic operational training to adjunct faculty or staff on the use of standard simulation technologies, as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with successful completion of six credit hours per year toward a master's degree in nursing.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current Oklahoma Licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification
  • BLS Instructor certification preferred

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Requires two years full-time experience as a Registered Nurse prior to appointment.
  • Good knowledge of math & science; reading & writing skills; communication & interpersonal skills; time management & organizational skills; computer skills including use of MS Office.
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality of information.
  • Maintains compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) policy and its' procedures.
