Position Summary
The School of Health and Wellness is seeking a passionate and learner-focused Instructor - Health Care Aide to join our team. In this role, you will share your clinical expertise, inspire learner success, and help develop skilled, compassionate graduates who are ready to make a meaningful impact in Alberta's health care system.
As an Instructor in the Health Care Aide program, you will provide high-quality instruction, assess learner progress, and create engaging learning experiences that support student achievement. You will teach across a variety of delivery formats, including in-person, online, blended, synchronous virtual classrooms, and workplace settings-while contributing to curriculum development and continuous program improvement.
Working closely with colleagues, industry partners, and the Program Chair, you will help ensure our curriculum reflects current health care practices and prepares learners to meet the evolving needs of the profession.
What You'll Be Doing:
Provide Quality Instruction: Deliver engaging, learner-centered instruction in courses assigned within the Health Care Aide program. You will develop lesson plans, select instructional strategies that support diverse learning needs, and deliver instruction across a variety of learning environments, including face-to-face, online, blended, synchronous virtual classrooms using Microsoft Teams, and workplace settings.
You will also develop and update curriculum, instructional guides, and assessment rubrics in collaboration with the Program Chair to ensure course content remains current and aligned with program outcomes.
A key part of this role involves evaluating learner performance on an ongoing basis, providing timely feedback and progress reports to learners and administrators, and maintaining accurate academic records in accordance with college requirements.
Foster Learner Success: Create a positive, inclusive learning environment where learners feel supported throughout their educational journey. This includes addressing concerns related to attendance, conduct, and academic performance, while identifying situations that require additional support and referring learners to the Program Chair or appropriate College services such as tutoring or counselling.
You will also ensure approved individualized accommodations are implemented to support learner success, contribute to scholarship and bursary processes, and participate in college and departmental events such as orientations, graduations, and other initiatives that enhance the learner experience.
Build Strong Relationships and Represent the Program: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to support the continued success and relevance of the Health Care Aide program. By staying informed of emerging trends and best practices within health care, you will contribute to keeping curriculum current and responsive to industry needs.
In addition, you will support learner articulation and transfer opportunities, participate in advisory committees, attend community and industry meetings, assist with recruitment activities as schedules permit, and develop and maintain professional relationships with Health Care Aide employers and other industry stakeholders.
Contribute to the College Community: As a member of the School of Health and Wellness, you will contribute to a collaborative and professional learning environment by following College policies and procedures and participating in required professional development, including instructional and systems training. You will also demonstrate a willingness to participate in applied research initiatives where appropriate and support the school through special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Practical Nurse Diploma
4 years of nursing experience
Meets government Health Care Aide facilitator requirements
CLPNA or CARNA Practice Permit without restriction
CPR Health Care Provider Level
Up to date immunization records
Police Information Check including a vulnerable sector
N95 Mask Fitting
Ability to work to full scope of practice
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Qualifications:
One year adult teaching experience or completion of an adult teaching/learning education program
Current teaching experience of the Health Care Aide curriculum
Curriculum development an asset
Industry relationships is an asset

This opening is a temporary (faculty) position until August 10, 2028. Please note all successful candidates will be required to provide copies of government issued identification and proof of educational qualifications upon hire and may be required to provide an enhanced police information check. If your education was received internationally, we will require you to provide an international education assessment through IQAS, WES, or one of the other nationally designated organizations upon hire.
