Job description

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Tutor/Instructor/Teacher Assistant to support English language learners in developing their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. The successful candidate will assist instructors in delivering engaging lessons, provide one-on-one or small-group tutoring, and help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist the lead instructor in planning and delivering ESOL lessons aligned with the curriculum and learning objectives.

Provide one-on-one with students and student small-group tutoring to reinforce classroom instruction.

Support students in improving English language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.

Help prepare instructional materials, classroom activities, and learning resources.

Monitor student participation, progress, and attendance, and provide feedback to the lead instructor.

Encourage student engagement and foster a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.

Assist with classroom management and ensure a productive learning atmosphere.

Support learners with varying English proficiency levels and learning needs.

Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, student progress, and classroom activities.

Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as required.

Promote cultural sensitivity and respect while working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

       Bachelor's degree or current enrollment in Education, English, Linguistics, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field (preferred).

       Previous experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or assisting English language learners is an advantage.

MUST have knowledge of medical terminology.

      Fluent in Spanish (Speaking, reading, and writing)

       Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

       Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

       TESOL, TEFL, CELTA, or equivalent English language teaching certification (preferred but not required).

       Experience working with multicultural or multilingual learners.

       Familiarity with online learning platforms and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.

       Basic knowledge of student assessment and progress tracking.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:

       Part-time

WORK LOCATION:

       On-site at the learning center, school, or community education facility.

WORKING HOURS:

       15-25 hours per week

       Flexible schedule, including daytime, evening, or weekend classes as needed.

OPPORTUNITY FOR FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT:

       These positions are initially offered on a part-time basis. Based on organizational needs, workload, performance, and the availability of hours, the position may be converted to a full-time role in the future.
