Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Operates an Amada turret to punch parts from various sizes of Sheet metal. Installs tooling in the punch head, inserts steel into the turret, cycles machine, removes processed sheet from the turret, separates scrap from good parts, deburrs parts using grinder or file, and detects malfunctions in machine operations such as worn or damaged cutting tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to perform essential duties

• High School Diploma/GED

• Six months machine operating experience

• Prior mechanic experience helpful

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:

• Must be able to read and interpret blueprint drawings, follow routers and use simple math to perform basic calculations.

• Install tooling in the punch head as specified by work order, set-up and operate computer numerical control to punch parts.

• Must be able to insert a sheet of steel into the turret from a worktable that is waist/chest high. The weight of the sheet varies from 60 pounds up to 163 pounds. An operator may handle 25 up to 50 sheets per day.

• Must be able to remove the processed sheet from the turret by pulling it onto a second worktable.

• Must be able to break the attached tabs using a file, lift the edge of the processed sheet and shake to separate parts from the scrap metal.

• Performs inspection of parts, de-burrs and removes tabs.

• Must be able to change material on worktable as needed. The worktable is on wheels and requires the operator to roll the table out a few feet to be loaded by forklift. Empty table will weigh approximately 300 pounds.

• Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

• Update computer records and paperwork in accordance with production requirements.

• Performs preventative maintenance, lubricates and clean machines.

• Maintain work area in clean, orderly condition and follows prescribed safety procedures.

• Must have a working command of the English language and be able to communicate orally and in writing.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the department, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other department members.
