Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Review repair orders and estimates to determine required parts and the scope of work prior to beginning repairs.
  • Perform body, frame, and structural repairs accurately and efficiently in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.
  • Tear down and inspect vehicles to identify hidden or additional damage and communicate findings to the estimator.
  • Complete repairs, including body panel work, structural welding, alignment, and related mechanical or electrical repairs as needed.
  • Communicate proactively regarding supplemental repair needs or potential delays that may impact timelines.
  • Road test vehicles when necessary to ensure all repairs meet quality and safety standards.
  • Stay current on repair techniques, equipment, and manufacturer procedures, and provide guidance to apprentice technicians when applicable.
Qualifications
Required
  • Proven experience performing frame and structural collision repairs in a professional body shop or collision repair environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of tear down, damage analysis, and structural repair procedures in accordance with manufacturer and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain productivity, and produce high‑quality repairs in a fast‑paced, high‑volume shop.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Preferred
  • Hands‑on experience with frame machines, structural welding, suspension repairs, and alignment.
  • ASE certifications related to collision repair, structural damage analysis, mechanical/electrical components, or State Vehicle Inspector certification.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting apprentice technicians
Pay

$75,000-$100,000+ annually. Annual earnings are based on a flat rate hourly pay, plus job-specific repairs rates. Flat hourly pay typically ranges from $24-$26/hour, with many repair jobs paying at higher rates into the $30s. Experienced, productive technicians routinely earn above the minimum annual amount. The hourly rates are determined by experience.
