Position Summary

HES Facilities Management is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Athletics Fields Groundkeeper to maintain safe, high-quality athletic fields and outdoor sports facilities. This position is responsible for turf maintenance, field preparation, irrigation, equipment operation, and general grounds upkeep to support practices, games, tournaments, and community events.The ideal candidate has experience in sports turf management, landscaping, or grounds maintenance and takes pride in maintaining professional athletic environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare athletic fields for practices and competitions, including lining, dragging, mowing, and setup• Maintain natural grass and/or synthetic turf fields• Operate and maintain grounds keeping equipment such as mowers, tractors, blowers, utility vehicles, and irrigation systems• Perform fertilization, aeration, seeding, watering, and pest/weeds management as directed• Inspect fields and facilities for safety hazards and repair needs• Maintain dugouts, bleachers, fencing, walkways, and surrounding grounds• Assist with event setup and breakdown, including goals, nets, bases, and field equipment• Monitor weather conditions and assist with rain preparation or recovery efforts• Maintain inventory of field supplies and report equipment issues• Follow all safety procedures and organizational policies• Support snow and ice removal as needed (if applicable)

Qualifications

Required:• High school diploma or equivalent• Valid driver’s license• Ability to operate landscaping and grounds maintenance equipment• Ability to lift up to [50] pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions• Strong work ethic and attention to detail• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during sports seasonsPreferred:• Experience in athletic field maintenance, landscaping, golf course maintenance, or turf management• Knowledge of irrigation systems and turf care practices• Sports Turf Manager certification or related training• Experience with synthetic turf maintenance
