Job description

Job Summary
Van Wall is looking for an experienced and qualified mechanic that will specialize in reel and knife grinding for golf and sports turf equipment. This role will be responsible for diagnosis, repair and scheduled maintenance of golf and turf equipment. The job will consist of reel and knife work approximately 70% of the time. The remainder of the time will be spent working on a wide range of turf equipment including specific golf mowers, Gators, 1 through 5 series utility tractors, as well as residential and commercial turf equipment.
The ideal candidate will be able to diagnose mechanical issues with golf reels and stationary knives. A working understanding of height of cut adjustments is preferred (Can also be trained). A working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic issues is a plus. Additionally, the technician must be able to complete component removal, disassembly, and reconditioning. The technician must also be able to safely operate all machines marketed by the dealership (we will provide training as required).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
-Perform diagnosis and repair of equipment as required
-Grind mowing reels and adjust per customer specification
-Grind stationary knives and adjust per customer specifications
-Perform reconditioning and repair of all machine systems and components
-Prepare all reports and forms required in conjunction with job assignments
-Participate in all training programs as directed by the Service Manager
-Report work required on equipment to the Service Manager, for proper and safe operation by the customer
-Bring to the attention of the Service Manager any shop tools, equipment or vehicles that are not in a serviceable condition or are unsafe to use
-Follow all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
Position Qualifications
-High School Degree or equivalent is required with an associate's degree in a technician program preferred
-1-3 years of experience in a related field
-Golf course equipment experience preferred
-Ownership of necessary tools
-Valid driver's license required as well as the ability to be insurable under the company's insurance standards
-Ability to pull a trailer loaded with equipment
-Requires bending, twisting, reaching overhead, squatting
-Must be able to lift 25 lbs regularly and 50-80 lbs occasionally
-Must be able to work on hands and knees occasionally to reach components and perform work as well as work overhead with equipment on lifts
-Must be able to stand daily and for extended durations
-Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
-Being team-oriented is a must with the ability to collaborate with others or work independently as required
-Experience using Microsoft suite of applications is highly preferred such as Outlook and Word
