Job description

The HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting the VP, Human Resources Manager with providing Human Resources support to all TSB employees. The HR Generalist & Payroll Specialist will ensure various administrative and internal activities or projects run smoothly and efficiently including payroll and benefits, HRIS, and Learning Management System (LMS) operations while gaining experience in a variety of areas in human resources such as employee relations, performance management, and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Payroll & Benefits Operations
    • Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, state and local tax regulations.
    • Maintain payroll records, verify payroll reports, and resolve discrepancies promptly.
    • Assist with and respond to internal and external payroll audit requests.
    • Provide day-to-day benefits administration services such as enrollments/changes, termination, COBRA, premium payments, and problem resolution.
    • Support the managing of the organization’s leave administration processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of leave requests, accruals, and balances in compliance with company policy and applicable laws.
  • HRIS Operations
    • Maintain workforce data utilizing TSB’s HRIS (Paycom), ensuring both confidentiality and accuracy.
    • Create and maintain digital and electronic employee and human resources records while ensuring compliance with federal and state laws.
    • Run weekly, monthly, and ad hoc reporting as scheduled and requested.
    • Ensure timely processing of various HR transactions in the Paycom system: promotions, transfers, separations, and base pay changes.
    • Serve as a resource to employees and managers, providing basic technical support for the Paycom platform.
  • Learning Management System (LMS) Operations
    • Oversee the maintenance of the LMS platform.
    • Conduct course audits and work with staff to get courses updated when needed to ensure the most up-to-date information is included in the courses offered.
    • Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation and resource guides for end users on operational procedures and changes.
    • Assist managers with assigning LMS courses to staff and LMS reporting, as needed.
    • Prepare weekly and monthly reports for the President on employee course consumption (by department) of courses offered.
    • Provide troubleshooting and technical support to TSB staff.
  • Human Resources Operations
    • Serve as an additional point of contact to employees and managers, fielding routine questions about HR practices, policies and procedures and redirecting employees as necessary.
    • Support HR-related functions including onboarding and offboarding, performance management, and HRIS administration.
    • Provide support with internal and external inquiries and requests related to the HR department (emails in shared HR Inbox and calls to HR phone line).
    • Create and maintain workflows and operating procedures as a means of documenting departmental operational processes.
    • Complete a variety of one-time projects and initiatives at the direction of the VP, Human Resources.
    • Continuously learn the latest HR practices to improve workplace efficiency.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from college or university; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school, or technical industry related curriculum (such as PHR or SHRM), should be business, financial industry and human resource related.
  • Confidence and maturity to deal with all levels of employees, officers, and senior management on matters of a confidential or sensitive nature.
  • Knowledge of human resources, labor laws, related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of payroll concepts and processes preferred.
  • Prior exposure to one or more cloud-based HRIS platforms required; prior experience working with Paycom preferred.
  • High degree of comfort with technology; adept at using Microsoft desktop applications, and capable of mastering other technology tools and platforms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Professional HR certification (aPHR, PHR, or SHRM-CP) preferred.
  • Three or more years of relevant experience, preferably with exposure to multiple functions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously.
  • High learning agility; curious and interested in building knowledge in broader HR topics.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; effective at building relationships across departmental lines.
  • Commitment to professional growth and development.
