Job description

Seeking Senior Truss Designers who are responsible for translating sales orders into accurate shop drawings & maintaining design integrity within an appropriate time frame to meet shop production and delivery requirements using leading edge 3D cad design.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Read, analyze and transfer information received from the Sales Department into various MiTek or other design programs to produce truss layouts and engineered drawings for residential, commercial or agricultural projects.
  • Enter accurate and complete information into Sapphire program and produce proper shop work orders.
  • Communicate with Sales and Customer to secure approved design and, once received, ensure work orders are forwarded in a timely fashion.
  • Communicate as required with Sales Reps, Building Officials and Customers to resolve any design issues.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all staff using good communication skills.
  • Attend regularly scheduled design meetings to stay informed with the department and contribute to discussions about its processes and direction.

     Qualifications:

    Education: Architectural construction technology and/or construction related degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

    Experience: 5+ years’ experience in a construction or building materials-related industry preferred. 1-2 years’ experience of truss software, MiTek required. Wall Panel experience is a plus

    Other skill sets required: Specialized knowledge needed for performance of job: Possess proficient abilities to read, interpret, and develop technical drawings/prints using drafting software. 3D Visualization skills. Knowledge of MiTek Sapphire and Engineering software preferred.  Proficient computer skills including MS Office.  Manufacturing technology, related to wood trusses, engineered floor systems and building manufacturing. Strong mathematical skills with a high degree of accuracy. Basic engineering design and principles.  Ability to communicate both written and verbally in a professional and effective manner. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects. Effective time management skills to ensure deadlines are met.

    Salary Range:  $30.00/hour - $34.00/hour
