Job Title:LASER OPERATOR
Reports to: LASER SUPERVISOR
Job Type: Hourly, Non-Exempt

SUMMARY: Perform setups and operates laser cutting machine equipment for cutting plate and sheet metals.
REQUIRED Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Checks lens in laser head; cleans if necessary.
  • Checks light barriers and clears when broken.
  • Checks loading tables and pallet changer for debris.
  • Downloads programs from server.
  • Aligns cutting head, loads new sheets and initiates cutting of plate / job.
  • Checks parts for correct dimensions and cut quality.
  • Clocks in on all work order sequences that are applicable to laser cutting machines.
  • Closes out work orders.
  • Execute production schedule as directed.
  • Upkeep and cleanliness of work areas.
  • Follow company safety & security guidelines
  • Attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
  • Other duties as needed.

DESIRED COMPETENCIES:

  • Reads and interprets shop prints.
  • Empties slag containers and dust collectors.
  • Wipes down rails and cleans machine exterior.
  • Cleans work area.
  • Unloads finished parts from machine and moves them to next work center, per work order.
  • Loads new material into Stopa Tower.
  • Empties hopper container when needed.
  • Takes parts to next location.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2 years previous Laser experience required

DESIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • On the job training to be provided, as needed
  • Preferred Trumpf Equipment
  • Use of inspection tools,
  • Forklift operation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is frequently required to walk while performing the duties of this job (approx. 70%) and stand (25%), and occasionally sit (5%). The employee is expected to lift or move materials (25%) weighing up to 30 lbs.
