Job description

The University of Michigan Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Radiation Oncologist to join our growing academic faculty as a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor. This full-time faculty appointment is based at our Trinity - Lacks Cancer Center in Grand Rapids, Michigan, offering the opportunity to build an outstanding clinical and academic career while practicing in one of the Midwest's most vibrant communities.

You’ll join a highly collaborative multidisciplinary oncology team dedicated to exceptional, patient-centered cancer care. Disease site focus is flexible, based on departmental needs and your own interests and expertise.

As a member of one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, you will enjoy the resources, reputation, and collaborative environment of Michigan Medicine while practicing in a thriving community setting. Faculty benefit from outstanding educational programs and close collaboration with colleagues across the University of Michigan and Trinity Health systems which have combined efforts to form the Cancer Network of West Michigan with purpose to provide high quality and specialized multidisciplinary cancer care to meet the need of this growing community.

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive radiation oncology care in a multidisciplinary oncology environment while contributing to the academic missions of the University of Michigan. Responsibilities include participation in multidisciplinary tumor boards, departmental conferences, chart rounds, and collaborative treatment planning with close collaboration across the Cancer Network of West Michigan including the University of Michigan Health West and Trinity Muskegon.

Faculty will have opportunities to educate and mentor residents, medical students, and other trainees through clinical rotations, didactic education, and mentorship.

The Department utilizes advanced treatment technologies, including multimodality imaging for treatment planning (PET/CT, MRI, and 4D CT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), and brachytherapy. This practice leverages a diverse range of specialty treatment technology including Cyberknife, Radixact, TrueBeam, and Flexitron to name a few. Candidates with special interest and/or expertise in brachytherapy are encouraged to apply although the position can be additionally sculpted to meet the career goals and interests of the candidate.
