What is a trophy shop?

A trophy shop is a retail business that specializes in creating, customizing, and selling awards such as trophies, plaques, medals, and other recognition items. These shops often offer engraving services to personalize awards for sports teams, academic achievements, corporate events, and other occasions. Trophy shops may also provide a range of materials and designs to suit different budgets and preferences. Many now offer online ordering and shipping in addition to in-store services.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a trophy shop associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Trophy Shop Associate, you need experience with engraving, attention to detail, and basic design or assembly skills, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent. Familiarity with engraving machines, design software like CorelDRAW, and point-of-sale systems is typically required. Strong customer service, time management, and communication skills help you effectively meet client needs and manage custom orders. These abilities ensure high-quality personalized products, efficient workflow, and satisfied customers in a deadline-driven environment.

What are some common challenges faced by employees working in a trophy shop, and how can they be addressed?

Employees in a trophy shop often face challenges such as managing custom orders with tight deadlines, handling a variety of materials and engraving techniques, and balancing customer service with production tasks. Attention to detail is crucial, as errors in personalization can lead to costly remakes. Effective communication with both customers and team members, strong organizational skills, and adaptability to fluctuations in demand can help address these challenges and ensure smooth operations.

Job description

WANTED: Class A OTR Company Driver to Lease Owner
IMPORTANT NOTE: We get lots of applicants – some days, too many. We need “A” stringers! Division 1 players. If you need a decent job, we can help but; we are saying this right now: We don’t want unsafe drivers! We don’t want guys who will sit around and miss stops continually. We don’t want guys who are lazy and sit at truck stops all day. This won't be tolerated! If you are motivated and can run and are a good, honest, hard-working honorable person, then we have a place for you – APPLY NOW! Otherwise, consider Schneider’s of the world. This job is demanding and as long as you’re a professional, we have a place for you. We take this business seriously and we want serious drivers who will do the job to the best of their ability each and every day while on duty. What you make is directly related to your performance and it's entirely up to you how well you do. Thank you kindly, We want the best!
HERE IS THE PLAN AND START PAY FOR THE FIRST 30 DAYS:
We would start you as a company driver (depending on MVR and experience ) somewhere between 60 and 70 c.p,m on or around. May offer a percentage as high as 30% gross so that we can accommodate shorter runs. Once you drive with us for 30 days, you will be reviewed as a qualified lease purchase owner. If you are a good driver, we will agree to change you over to a lease owner. If you need more time to adjust, we will review you every 2 weeks after. You are in no way required to do a lease purchase. If you are content as a company driver, then we have no problems with that and you can stay on as one. But if you like your truck (or any others available at the time), we can discuss the option. This is 100% up to you.
THE LEASE PRICE IS ON A 1-YEAR LEASE:
We lease trucks for between 500 and 750 depending on the year, make, and model and they are PAID IN FULL in one year (52 weeks). No money down and no credit required. Your credit is the value you bring to the company! Once it’s paid, you own it outright! Trucks in the 2006 to 2008 ranges are around 500 sometimes less depending on how recently the rebuilds were done. We may extend weeks and keep payments lower on newer models if you want to pay less per week on the newer trucks if they are available but the 2006 to 2008 models are great workhorses regardless. They are not pretty little trophy wives - but like a good farm gal, they get the job done. In some ways, they are better because of the lack of electronics that can fail which is a common problem with all newer trucks. Note: Some of the newer trucks are 1.5 to 2 to 2.5-year leases.
TYPE OF TRUCKS (AS OF SEPTEMBER 2019):
  • As of October 2020, the selections are 2006 to 2012 Volvos with mainly Cummins ISX engines (some Volvo engines available as well). We may have newer more expensive 2015 and 2016 FLs with Detroit Diesel 15s and Volvos with Cummins and also Internationals with Cummins about the same years. We may not. Depends on availability.
  • Most have had complete overhauls and sometimes twice on the older ones. We own our own shops and keep them in great condition. We wouldn’t still be running them otherwise.
  • Some trucks are smaller cabs with double sleepers, some are larger designs. It all depends on what is available.

EXPECTED GROSS EARNINGS ON A NORMAL YEAR (DRY VAN):
  • In Dry Van, Owner-operators gross between $4000 and $6000+ per week during slow season (January, February, March) on a normal year.
  • In Dry Van, Owner-operators gross between $6000 and $8000+ per week during peak season.
  • Note: Refers earn more overall but there are also expenses and extra liability involved to take into consideration.

IMPORTANT EARNINGS NOTE: Some years, rare dry van seasonal peaks hit the $10,000 and $12,000 ranges for solo drivers.. 2021 is a very good year!! EXPECT EARNINGS TO BE HIGHER THAN NORMAL!

Gross Earnings Explained:
We based the "Normal" Solo Driver Gross Earnings estimate on a gross of $5000 to $7000 per week (up to $9000+ during peak) as was consistent in the fiscal year 2018 Then happened and the market changed. It has been 25% or more higher ever since last June 2020. Gross earnings depend on your availability and the number of miles you commit to driving. We normally book loads at an average of 2.00 plus per mile during the low season with peaks upward of 2.60 per mile (year-round averages). We are now booking peak season rates in the slow season and averaging 3.50 or more in peak. This does not include peak season load outliers that are above and beyond these rates. Rates fully depend on freight demand, season, geographic location, and other market conditions affecting spot and dedicated market trends and vary from year to year. In some cases, load rates are MUCH higher but it is not consistent. As with all markets globally, rates go up and down. There are Owners who make less who don’t drive very much. There are Owners who make more who drive continually. This all depends on your commitment as well as market conditions going forward. But if you are a driver who likes to drive, we will put you to work and you will make excellent gross earnings. Our dispatch team is dedicated to getting top dollar year-round. After all, we are partners in this. The more you make, the more we make.
