Job description

Overview
Position Purpose: The Purchasing Agent must believe in, practice and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be Honest, Objective, Mature and Efficient in how he or she approaches their role at Green Brick Partners.
This position involves managing cost categories, negotiating contracts, managing the bid process with Preferred Partners, demonstrating knowledge of building industry and SOPs. This position should provide support to Construction, vendors and other departments as needed.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for reviewing and understanding plans and specifications of Trophy Signature Homes.
  • Must be able to request, retrieve, review and implement bids/pricing from vendors.
  • Analyze bid proposals to ensure they are complete and comparable. Negotiate contracts to ensure the best pricing and performance. Present findings to Purchasing management for final approval.
  • Work with purchasing teams to understand plan lineups and plan/product offerings in each community.
  • Responsible for the accuracy of hard costs/invoices and revisions for assigned categories.
  • Track & record trade partner contract documentation. Must be able to identify markups and incomplete documentation.
  • Maintain system data/costs/takeoffs.
  • Process Starts as needed.
  • Work with Estimating on redline changes and updated bids needed.
  • Assist purchasing coordinators with vendor questions.
  • Various projects assigned.

Authority/Budget/Decision Making/Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability: Position requires the ability to exercise the discretion and judgement of vendor bid pricing, setup of budget information, and execution of contract.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
Location: Trophy Signature Homes Corporate Office, not a remote position
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience:
  • Prefer Three or more years' Purchasing experience
  • Prefer Three or more years' experience in the homebuilding industry.

Competencies:
  • Require attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and understand plans.
  • Intermediate skills in MSOffice Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Ability to quickly learn purchasing specific software.
  • Maintain good relationships with vendors, construction, and sales.
  • Possess analytical problem solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have intellectual curiosity.
