Job Title:Tribal Gaming Agent

Department:Nooksack Tribal Gaming Agency (TGA)

Reports To:Tribal Gaming Agency Director

Job Status: Regular Full Time – (Rotating Shift – Days, Nights, Weekends & Holidays)

Type: Non-Exempt (Hourly

Grade:E – 1

JOB SUMMARY:

Represents the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Commission (NTGC) in a highly professional manner at all times. Monitors the gaming operation to ensure compliance with NTGC operating policy and procedures preserves and protects the assets of the Nooksack Indian Tribe and ensure the integrity of the gaming operation and experience. Monitors and ensures compliance with the Tribal Gaming Ordinance and Regulations, Tribal – State Compact.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures regulatory compliance with all applicable Tribal, Federal and Statelawsand regulations by monitoring,observing,reportingand takingappropriate action.
  1. Detect and investigate regulatory issues, including but not limited to game protection, rule of play, and irregularities and relevant laws.
  1. Reviews existing and proposed regulations, controls, policies and standards for adherence and compliance with Federal, State and Tribal requirements.
  1. Performs audits on operations todeterminecompliance with system of internal controls and regulations.
  1. Assistin investigating and documenting variances,shortagesand exceptions.
  1. Utilize andmaintainsystems, logs and other means to track and report gaming incidents and activities that are not normal to the operation or are in violation of specific gaming procedures and regulations.
  1. Enforce applicable law whilemaintaina positive relationship with thoseimpacted. Maintain positive relations with employees, management, outside organizations and/or agencies.
  1. Examines, test and inspect gaming equipment on a random basis asdeterminedby the director.
  1. Conducts barring of unwanted patrons.
  1. Observes the conduct of games to ensure honesty and fairness to the patron as well as the Tribe.
  1. Assistin loss prevention in reference to Tribal assets.
  1. Responsible for monitoring the counting, verifying, and recording the contents of various income sources by the Nooksack Tribal Casino’s Count Teams in accordance with the Tribal Internal Control System (TICS) for the Drop and Count, and transferring of the funds in the Cage Department accountability. Monitor the Count Team members whoare responsible forensuring that theappropriate countdocuments are completed and provided to the Accounting Department for purposes of auditing. Responsible for reporting on compliance of employees, manager, and supervisors of the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Enterprises with all applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies,proceduresand professional standards of conduct.

  • Indian Preference Policy applies to this and all positions with the Nooksack Indian Tribe.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are required for the incumbent to have, in order to be considered for the position.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION: 

  • Associates of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, BusinessAdministrationora directly relatedfield with two years ofdirectly relatedexperience, or;
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree and four years of related experience in table games, casino security and/or regulatory/investigative experience in law enforcement and/or military.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES POSITION:

  • Must be available to work various shifts (day/night) including weekendsand holidays.
  • Ability to preserve the confidentiality of all information and materials either generated or obtained while conducting inspections and performingall jobresponsibilities. Must up-hold the strictest confidentiality.
  • Ability to learn, understand and apply the regulations as set forth by the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Commission.
  • Ability to process information under pressure, including interviewing individuals, testifying during hearings and/or court proceedings related to gaming infractions or criminal investigations conducted by agents.
  • Must be able to work independently, be detail oriented (written and verbal), and have a consistent attendance record, and exercise discretionary judgment.
  • Must be able to resolve and/or refer problems by proper investigative techniques, including, collecting data,establishingfacts, and drawing valid irrefutable conclusions.
  • Must have the ability towritereports and give effective presentations and responses to questions from managers, patrons, employees, and thegeneral public.
  • Must be able to travel to all Nooksack Tribal Gaming Facilitiesin order tofulfill staffing requirements as needed and as directed.
  • Ability to learn or knowledge of knownpossible cheatsandscamswithin the gaming industry.
  • Ability toestablishand maintain effective working relationships with Federal, State, Gaming Commission, management,co-workersand thegeneral public.

REQUIRED CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
  • Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation andmaintaineligibility requirements throughout employment with the Nooksack Tribal Gaming Commission.

REQUIRED LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS: 

  • Must have andmaintainthroughout employment a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe.(Must provide Driving Abstract from the Department of Motor Vehicle).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.):

  • Must have the ability to sit,standand/or walk for entire shift.
  • Ability to lift and carry upwards of 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Manual dexterity and coordination tooperateoffice equipment including a 10-key, personal computer,faxand copier.
  • Monitored by surveillance cameras.
  • Ability to respond to visual and aural cues.
  • Must read,writeand speak English.
  • Operate in mentally and physically stressful situations with composure.
