Job description

Are you someone who thrives on turning complex requirements into clear, actionable plans? Come join our team as an Estimator! With Tri-State Overhead Crane, you'll play a key role in estimating overhead crane projects.
What You'll Do
As an Estimator, you'll review plans, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate, competitive cost estimates. You'll work closely with our sales and engineering teams to ensure every proposal reflects the project scope, required materials, and production requirements. Your attention to detail and analytical skills will help set projects up for success before work begins.
  • Prepare accurate estimates: Review blueprints, specifications, and project documentation to determine material quantities, labor requirements, and overall project costs.
  • Develop proposals: Prepare detailed estimates and customer proposals that are accurate, complete, and aligned with project requirements.
  • Request and evaluate vendor quotes: Obtain pricing for components, materials, and services, comparing options to ensure competitive and accurate costing.
  • Verify project requirements: Review measurements, specifications, and scope details to identify discrepancies, clarify questions, and ensure estimate accuracy.
  • Research project costs: Analyze labor, material, equipment, and production costs to develop reliable estimates.
  • Maintain estimating documentation: Prepare and organize estimate worksheets, supporting documentation, reports, and cost records.
  • Collaborate across teams: Work closely with sales, engineering, and production to clarify project requirements and support the estimating process.
  • Support continuous improvement: Help refine estimating processes, cost databases, and pricing standards to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Skills We're Looking For
  • Experience: Previous estimating experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or a related industry is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications, with a solid understanding of estimating principles.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong mathematical aptitude with the ability to analyze costs, quantities, and production requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Highly organized with excellent accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
