Company Description

Parke Professional Services, LLC was created in January 2006 by Parke County REMC to clear trees from the electric distribution lines.  There are full time employees that will be working a four-year rotation in clearing trees from the rights-of-way. For more information on PPS, LLC call 765-569-3133 and ask for the Right-of-Way Supervisor. 

Job Description

Clears trees and brush within Right-Of-Ways and areas near power lines. 

Essential Functions:
1.        Trims trees and removes ground brush by operating a chain saw and other cutting equipment.

2.        Loads and unloads by hand or with booms, winches, skids and also uses a chipper.

3.        Operates the controls for winches and booms.  Follows hand, voice or other signals or views to work directly in positioning the truck at the site and in operating associated equipment.

4.        Carries and lays out materials, tools and equipment at the work site.

5.        Flagging duties including controlling movement of vehicular traffic through sites in which tree trimming is performed.  Directs movement of traffic through the site using sign, hand, radio and flag signals.  This includes frequently changing job sites and time in transit from one site to another.  Also includes using a "Stop and Slow" paddle and flag.

6.      May assist with chemical application under the direct supervision of a licensed applicator.

Additional Responsibilities:
1.        Drives a truck with an attached trailer or trailer/chipper and transports a tree clearance crew and their tools, materials and equipment upon attaining CDL A license.

2.        Services the truck and equipment, keeps the truck, a trailer and associated equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.  Remains alert for the possibilities of needs for repairs to the truck, truck equipment and tools, and report any necessary repairs to the Supervisor.

3.        Works during outages and storms when needed.

4.        Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:
1.        Must be able to work under adverse weather conditions, especially during emergencies and sometimes when performing routine work.

2.        Must be able to work any hour of the day or night and for long periods of time during emergencies.

3.        Is exposed to hazards of working near power equipment; traffic, high voltage wires, and falling limbs.

4.        Must have no concerns about working at heights of 60 feet or more.

5.        May be asked to lift objects in excess of 100 pounds.

6.        Does considerable walking, standing, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, and pulling, all involving ground conditions of deep mud, snow, swamp and poisonous plants.

7.        The normal 40-hour work week for Parke Professional Services, LLC employees is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from May 1st - August 31st, or Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. following August 31st and ending the week of November 1st.

Qualifications

1.        Good verbal and written communication skills.

2.        Ability to work in a team environment and get along with immediate supervisor, co-workers and Parke County REMC members.

3.        Ability to perform all job duties in a safe manner.

4.        Regular and punctual attendance.

5.        Ability to maintain confidentiality with all business data.

 Conditions of Employment:
1.        Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test, driver's license check, and a criminal history background check.

2.        Valid Indiana driver's license. CDL A not required however, failure to obtain a CDL A license within the approved time frame will result in failure to promote and/or termination.

3.        Must be able to prove eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferences:
1.        Knowledge of all aspects of tree trimming.

2.        Prior experience in tree trimming.

3.        Ability to work overtime and/or weekends occasionally.
