Key responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and renovation of streetscapes, parks, grounds, and community facilities, including tasks such as mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning, planting, and weed removal.

  • Operate and maintain various equipment such as lawn mowers, chainsaws, tree trimmers, backhoes, and other power tools to support landscaping and maintenance activities.

  • Assist with tree removal, watering, and planting, and support emergency response activities as needed.


Job description

Summary of Duties: Under the immediate supervision of a Streetscapes Supervisor, Foreman or a Senior Streetscapes Technician perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and renovation of streetscapes or community grounds, parks and recreation facilities, pathways, landscape, open space reserves, cul-de-sac’s, lakes and ponds, and other duties as assigned. Right-of-Way position will include work related to right of way trash and litter collection.

Essential Employee Responsibilities: During emergency conditions, subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform duties in support of development and maintenance of streetscapes, parks, grounds, park facilities e.g., mowing, edging, fertilizing, seeding, pruning, planting, and/ or removing weeds, trees, and shrubs, clearing right-of-way areas and drainage with appropriate equipment.
  • Paint, repair and refurbish fixtures, signs, equipment, and other miscellaneous items as needed.
  • Gather and dispose of debris, wood, trash, limbs, weeds, grass, trees, shrubs, plants, and dead animals.
  • Operate and maintain equipment such as, lawn mowers, sod cutters, chainsaws, tree trimmers and chippers, air compressors, backhoes, farm tractors, forklifts, and other various hand and job-related power tools.
  • Participate in emergency response teams.
  • May be required to work special events on nights, weekends or holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities specific to Forestry Crew:

  • Assist with removal of trees less than 12” diameter.
  • Tree watering
  • Tree planting

The employee is rarely exposed to high, precarious places; extreme cold; and explosives.

Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED). Entry level knowledge of concrete, minor carpentry work, and landscape installation and maintenance are a plus.

Experience: One (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Licenses and Certifications: Must possess a Texas driver’s license and meet the driver safety policy requirements.
