Job description

Streetlighting Bucket Operator

***CDL'S PERFERRED OR WILLING TO GET ONE IN 1ST 90 DAYS***

Performs work from aerial devices and ladders to install and maintain streetlights and related equipment. Working hours are typically a 10-hour day.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Operates various tools for the work (manual digging devices, wrenches, hammers, come-alongs, handling, etc.).
  • Clears work area and maintains safe jobsite conditions and assists with work and material assembling from the ground
  • Excavates to assist in the installation of structures or cables as required by contract specification.
  • Will have contact with public and private property owners to communicate the work to be performed.
  • Exposed to traffic and may be required to have training on traffic flagging.
  • All other duties as required or requested by Supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Able to: 
    • meet and maintain weight restrictions for bucket trucks as identified by the truck manufacturer.
    • work long hours and overtime, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work.
    • work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
    • work efficiently and effectively while working at heights.
    • safely enter and exit the aerial device and rear-end of the bucket and derrick trucks.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

Pre-Screen

  • Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • CDL preferred
  • Ability to pass DOT physical & obtain DOT medical card required.

Travel Requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel out of town/state for regular/emergency storm work.

Physical Requirements:

  • RARE: (less than 10%): Sitting, Kneeling, Crawling, Color Vision, Climbing Stairs
  • OCCASIONAL: (up to 33%): Stooping, Squatting, Climbing On/Off Truck, Climbing Ladders, Pushing, Reading, Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • FREQUENT: (up to 66%): Carrying, Pulling, Balancing, body-twisting, Hearing/Speech Range, Lifting, Lifting up to 10 lbs., Manual Dexterity, Speaking Clearly, Walking
  • CONTINUOUS: (up to 100%): Standing, Sense of Touch, Gripping, Seeing, Reaching, range-of-motion, Depth Perception, Lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., Climbing.
