Treasury Operations Specialist
Worcester, MA
About Us:
Established in 1895, Bay State Bank is an approximately $550MM, Massachusetts-based mutual Bank. As a Bank owned by a mutual holding company, the Bank is effectively governed by its depositors, and its mutual ownership structure allows it to focus on long-term and community impact rather than short-term profits. BSB has seven branch locations in Central Massachusetts. BSB is the only remaining Bank originally headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts: the second largest city in New England. BSB is a value-driven organization committed to intentional actions and investments that position the Bank as the community’s preferred partner for banking.
The Opportunity:
Under the general supervision of the AVP - Treasury Solutions Relationship Manager, the Treasury Operations Specialist is responsible for supporting cash management products and services within Deposit Operations. Serving as a key operational resource, this role manages the end-to-end administration of cash management activities, including onboarding, setup, configuration, validation, maintenance, monitoring, and ongoing review throughout the service lifecycle.
Responsibilities include system and account maintenance, operational analysis, and routine assessments designed to promote accuracy, efficiency, compliance, and effective internal controls. This position works collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless operations, minimize risk, and deliver high-quality treasury services.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and support treasury management products and services, including Online Banking (OLB), ACH, wire transfers, Remote Deposit Capture (RDC), Positive Pay, Bill Pay, EDI, and related payment solutions.
  • Execute service implementations, system configurations, maintenance activities, and product updates in accordance with approved procedures and internal controls.
  • Perform operational processing functions, including transaction review, posting, validation, balancing, and exception handling.
  • Monitor daily treasury operations to ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions and service requests.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for treasury management operational processes and products.
  • Configure, maintain, and validate treasury management systems, user entitlements, account structures, limits, and service parameters.
  • Ensure all set-ups and maintenance activities align with approved documentation, product specifications, and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, system documentation, and procedural materials.
  • Research and resolve operational issues, service disruptions, exception items, and client inquiries in a timely manner. Escalate operational risks or unresolved issues appropriately.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow automation, and operational efficiency enhancements.
  • Perform monitoring and periodic reviews of treasury services, transaction limits, entitlements, and system access.
  • Prepare reports and dashboards related to transaction volumes, exception tracking, processing metrics, and operational risk indicators.
  • Analyze operational trends and provide recommendations to management regarding workflow capacity and process optimization.
  • Perform and support compliance-related operational checks and audits, including OFAC screening, ACH and wire validations, and fraud prevention controls.
About You:
  • 2–5 years of experience in treasury operations, cash management, payment operations, or banking operations preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and banking or treasury management systems.
  • Excellent communications skills at all levels (front line staff to board room) both written and verbal, with particular skill at navigating the challenges of communication needed in hybrid and remote environments. Considered a consummate professional with strong ability to articulate the bank’s vision to a variety of audiences.
  • Possess thorough working knowledge of bank products, fee structure, policies, and procedures as they relate to quality performance.
  • Strong knowledge of treasury management and understanding of Regulatory requirements relative to Electronic Banking (Regulation E, Reg DD, NACHA, MasterCard and NYCE).
  • Ability and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Strong organizational skills with strict attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced diversified environment.
  • Outstanding sales and service orientation.
Why Bay State Bank?
  • Community-focused mutual bank committed to long-term relationships and local impact.
  • Collaborative, values-based culture.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the continued growth and strength of the Bank’s Treasury Operations.
  • Meaningful opportunity to influence treasury management practices, product offerings, and process improvement.
Bay State Bank is committed to offering compensation that is fair, competitive, and informed by the market. The salary range for this position is from $25.00 to $34.00 per hour, with final offers determined based on a candidate’s individual qualifications, including experience, skills, education, and any relevant certifications.
We also take a thoughtful approach to internal equity, ensuring that compensation decisions are aligned with our existing team and consistent across the organization. As part of our commitment to growth and development, starting offers are typically positioned to allow for future progression over time.
