Job Summary:

The Field Purchaser is responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services in support of field operations. This role ensures timely delivery of goods to job sites, maintains cost efficiency, and supports project schedules by coordinating closely with field teams, vendors, and the procurement department.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Source, negotiate, and purchase materials, tools, equipment, and services required for field operations
  • Coordinate directly with project managers, superintendents, and field staff to understand material needs and timelines
  • Generate and manage purchase orders in accordance with company policies and project budgets
  • Expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery and minimize project delays
  • Identify and develop relationships with local vendors and suppliers near project sites
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment as needed
  • Track and resolve discrepancies related to deliveries, pricing, or quality issues
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, receipts, and documentation for audit and reporting purposes
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement procedures and safety standards
  • Assist with cost tracking and reporting to support project financial performance
  • Verify delivered quantities against PO prior to releasing payment.
  • Perform receipt inspections. Contact vendor with any issues and take lead on resolution.
  • Organize and control material inventory on-site, working with craft to facilitate distribution on-time to maintain the flow of work
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of purchasing, procurement, or field support experience (construction, energy, or industrial environment preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of materials, equipment, and vendor sourcing in field operations
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and purchasing/ERP systems
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
  • Experience in renewable energy (wind, solar, or BESS projects) (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with local supplier networks and logistics coordination (Preferred)
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills (Preferred)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing field conditions

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

  • Active construction site environments
  • Ability to work extended hours during critical project phases
  • Working in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs.
