1.0 FTE - Rotating day/eve shift 

Starting Pay - $33.02 to $49.53 (based on experience)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP or equivalent certification)
  • Prior recent experience in Laboratory Science preferred
  • Microbiology experience preferred
  • Requires good communication skills and ability to exercise independent judgment and decision making in problem identification and resolution
  • BLS certification

Job Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates leadership in all aspects of laboratory practice and serves as a technical resource.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in general laboratory practice including Blood Bank, Chemistry, Special Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Immunology, Limited Microbiology, Microscopy, Molecular Microbiology, Phlebotomy, Urinalysis, and specimen handling and processing.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge in contemporary laboratory accreditation and regulations and actively participates in the accreditation process.
  • Successfully performs required quality control and proficiency testing and actively participates in evaluation of QC/PT data and development of corrective actions and follow-up, as needed.
  • Actively participates in quality management process, as needed.
  • Performs required preventative maintenance on analytical equipment and troubleshoots problems with appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintains accurate records of testing, quality control, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Serves as a resource for clinicians and Branch Clinic Laboratory personnel, as needed.
  • Instructs patients in proper collection procedures.
  • Actively participates in review/revision of laboratory procedures and policies on an ongoing basis.
  • Assists with the evaluation and development of new or improved test systems, as assigned.
  • Assists with new employee orientation and competency assessment with performance evaluation and documentation.
  • Complies with organization/department policies, procedures, and requirements for mandatory education, as required.
  • Actively participates in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Actively participates in maintenance and management of adequate inventory with required documentation.
