Infection Prevention & Control Nurse (RN)

Fairview Skilled Rehab & Nursing Home

Job Summary
Fairview Skilled Rehab & Nursing Home is seeking an experienced Infection Prevention & Control Nurse (RN) to lead and oversee the facility's infection prevention and control program. This role is responsible for monitoring infections, ensuring regulatory compliance, educating staff, conducting surveillance, and implementing evidence-based practices to protect residents, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the Infection Prevention & Control Program in accordance with CDC, CMS, and NYS DOH guidelines.

  • Conduct infection surveillance, tracking, reporting, and trend analysis.

  • Investigate and manage outbreaks while implementing containment measures.

  • Educate and train staff on infection prevention practices, PPE, hand hygiene, and isolation precautions.

  • Perform infection control rounds and audits throughout the facility.

  • Monitor antibiotic stewardship initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance during state surveys and regulatory inspections.

  • Collaborate with medical providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve resident outcomes.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and required infection control reports.

Qualifications

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Infection Prevention experience in a skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or long-term care setting preferred.

  • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain.

  • Strong knowledge of CDC, CMS, OSHA, and NYS Department of Health regulations.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
