Switzerland Tourism is the marketing organization for the national and international promotion of Switzerland as a vacation, travel and convention destination. Each day, the 280 employees at our Zurich headquarters and in 35 offices in 21 markets use innovative and unconventional means to market Switzerland as an especially attractive and diverse travel destination.

Trade Relations Manager – Western North AmericaDoes a Los Angeles based position in the tourism industry excite you?

As Trade Relations Manager – Western North America (100%) you are based in Los Angeles and report to the Head of Trade Relations North America. You drive Switzerland Tourism’s Trade Relations strategy throughout Western North America by developing business opportunities, increasing overnight stays and strengthening Switzerland’s position as a year-round destination. You manage strategic travel trade relationships and deliver sales, training, event and joint marketing activities with Swiss tourism partners and the North American team.

Your area of responsibility

  • Manage and develop relationships with tour operators, wholesalers, consortiums and travel advisors throughout Western North America
  • Serve as Key Account Manager for assigned strategic travel trade accounts
  • Create, negotiate and implement Joint Marketing Agreements with key accounts and Swiss tourism partners
  • Identify new business opportunities and partnerships that strengthen Trade Relations
  • Plan and implement trade marketing activities within the assigned budget
  • Deliver sales presentations, trainings and webinars for travel trade partners
  • Plan and conduct sales calls, roadshows, webinars and sales missions throughout Western North America
  • Plan and manage Switzerland Tourism trade events, fairs, sales calls and networking events in Western North America and Switzerland
  • Represent Switzerland Tourism at trade events, conferences and industry functions throughout North America
  • Accompany tour operators and travel advisors on familiarization trips to Switzerland
  • Prepare presentations, newsletters, sales manuals and other trade communication materials
  • Maintain the Trade database, data quality and KPI reporting, and support cross-regional and national project

Our Expectations

  • Higher education in Tourism, Hospitality, Marketing, Business or Communications
  • 2 to 4 years of professional experience in travel trade, destination marketing or tourism sales
  • High degree of self-motivation and flexibility, with the ability to handle varied workloads and tasks
  • Knowledge of Switzerland as a travel and holiday destination and of the North American travel trade distribution system
  • An existing network within the U.S. travel industry is highly desirable
  • Excellent oral and written English and good knowledge of German, French or Italian
  • Strong project management and coordination skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Switzerland
  • Confident appearance and diplomatic negotiation skills
  • Customer- and partner-oriented mindset with a high degree of independence
  • Swiss citizenship due to visa regulations and willingness to live and work in Los Angeles
  • Driver’s license
