Be the Person Who Helps a Child Heal From the Inside Out


This job helps you remember why you became a therapist and offers a front-row seat to a child's healing.


For more than 130 years, Monroe Harding has stood beside children and young adults who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma. Every child in foster care carries the weight of what happened to them—and every child deserves someone equipped to help them carry it forward, not stay stuck in it.


As a Full-Time Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapist (TF-CBT Therapist), you'll provide specialized therapeutic care to foster children, foster families, and birth families connected to Monroe Harding's programs. You'll be the clinician in the room when a child finally feels safe enough to tell their story—and the steady presence who helps them build the resilience to write what comes next. This is a new role and will allow someone to put their best practices from their experience and education and build a new program in our foster care service line.


This isn't a job where healing happens behind a closed door and nowhere else. You'll deliver structured TF-CBT sessions, lead psychoeducational groups, respond in moments of crisis, and partner with the caregivers and case teams surrounding each child, so the progress made in session carries into everyday life. You will also triage cases and refer to community and clinical resources.


The Opportunity


This is a new role and will allow someone to bring their best practices from their experience and education and build a new program with our foster care team. Perfect role for therapists who want to expand their career!


TF-CBT Therapists are central to the emotional healing and stabilization of youth impacted by trauma within Monroe Harding's Mental Health program. focusing on our foster care youth and families. You'll carry a caseload of foster children and their families, delivering individual, conjoint, and family sessions while serving as a trauma-informed resource for the broader care team. Every session is different, but every session moves a child closer to hope.


What You'll Do


• Deliver TF-CBT to foster children and their caregivers (foster and birth families), including individual, conjoint, and family sessions

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.

• Conduct comprehensive trauma assessments, diagnostic intakes, and treatment planning.

• Facilitate trauma-informed psychoeducational groups and family support sessions.

• Collaborate with case managers, Monroe Harding and DCS staff, and external providers to ensure coordinated care.

• Provide crisis intervention and safety planning as needed.

• Offer consultation and training to staff on trauma-informed practices and TF-CBT principles.

• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

• Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, preferably with foster youth and families

• Licensed or license-eligible in Tennessee (LCSW, LPC-MHSP, LMFT)

• Experience with underserved populations and trauma-informed modalities required

• Familiarity with DBT, motivational interviewing, and family systems therapy is a plus
