Job description

Description:

To conduct the movement of freight efficiently, professionally, and safely within the time frame allotted. Deliveries will vary.

Requirements:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safely delivering loads at the specified delivery time- may occasionally include Saturday, Sunday, and evening deliveries
  • Ensures stake bed trucks are maintained, cleaned, inspected, and in compliance
  • Maintenance of all company vehicles in accordance with Alliance standards
  • Daily installation of battery tenders on all vehicles
  • Compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, local speed, and the traffic laws
  • Treating customers and other motorists with courtesy
  • Communication with central dispatch and managers for loading and any problems that you incur.
  • Must work outdoors in all weather
  • Maintaining the driver's log book based on the assigned workweek.
  • Pre/Ongoing/Post-trip inspections as required and as necessary
  • Loading & unloading, strapping & unstrapping, tarping & untarping of freight
  • Inventorying of freight at the receivers to validate the bill of lading, getting the required signature, and accepting goods
  • Timely filling-out and turning-in necessary paperwork to the terminal for billing and payroll

REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance test (negative test result)
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Stable work history
  • No DUI or reckless driving conviction, no positive controlled substance tests, or felony convictions
  • No more than three moving violations, or a combination of one highway “at fault” accident and two citations within the past three years. “At fault” accidents or citations in both personal and commercial vehicles are included
  • Must be a good communicator

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Mostly in an outdoor environment
  • Heavy lifting
  • Be available weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • 40+ hours per week
