Job Description Summary:
Employee will be responsible for assisting nursing staff in the preparation of patients and equipment before, during, and after surgery to facilitate age specific patient care. Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, responsible for assigned shift as scheduled full time or part time to facilitate age specific patient care in the OR, PAU, and PACU. Employee is subject to call back and overtime as required by the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Identifies and transports patients throughout the perioperative process (PAU, OR, PACU) as needed.
  • Performs and/or assists with surgical preps as needed, according to age specific needs of patients.
  • Assists in perioperative or intraoperative positioning and lifting of patients, according to age specific needs of patient, and equipment.
  • Demonstrates responsibility for assigned areas insuring availability of equipment.
  • Restocks all designated supply areas as indicated on a daily basis.
  • Runs errands to and from the OR suite and to other departments as needed.
  • Assists with cleaning of OR after cases by mopping, removing trash, changing suction canisters, and wiping down tables.
  • Assists Materials personnel as needed.
  • Receives stock inventory and assures all supplies are properly located.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or directed.

  • Equivalent to partial high school education, or comparable brief vocational training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of hospital and department policies and procedures, hospital locations, body mechanics, and linen supplies as acquired through 2 weeks on-the-job training.
