About the Role

As the Transportation Safety & Training Manager, you will serve as Vivalon's primary leader for safety, training, compliance, and quality assurance initiatives. You will oversee programs that ensure employees operate safely, professionally, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements while helping drive operational excellence throughout the organization.

This highly visible leadership position partners with Transportation Operations, Human Resources, and Executive Leadership to strengthen safety performance, employee development, risk management, and continuous improvement.



What You'll Do


Lead Safety, Training & Quality Excellence
  • Lead and develop Vivalon's safety, training, and quality assurance programs across transportation operations.
  • Supervise and support Road Supervisors and training staff while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Design and oversee new hire, compliance, and ongoing training programs to ensure employees have the skills and certifications needed for success.
  • Drive safety initiatives by leading accident investigations, conducting operational reviews, and implementing proactive risk-reduction strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, contractual, and organizational requirements, maintaining audit-ready records and documentation.
  • Monitor performance metrics, identify trends, and implement data-driven improvements that enhance safety, service quality, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with department leaders and executive leadership to advance organization-wide safety goals and continuous improvement efforts.
Requirements:


What We're Looking For

We're looking for a collaborative leader who combines strong regulatory knowledge with a passion for developing people and building a culture of safety.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of safety and training experience, preferably within transportation, transit, paratransit, or related industries
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and transportation safety regulations
  • Experience leading investigations, training programs, audits, and compliance initiatives
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills
  • Ability to influence and build partnerships across all levels of an organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with DOT drug and alcohol testing programs and Reasonable Suspicion training
  • Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a California Commercial Driver License (Class B or higher) with Passenger Endorsement
  • Clean driving record and insurability
  • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is a plus
