We are hiring for: Logistics Coordinator (Foodservice & Retail Transportation)
Position Summary
The Logistics Coordinator assists in the daily coordination of outbound transportation operations supporting both foodservice and retail customers. This role supports the Transportation Planning Lead in ensuring all shipments are scheduled, tracked, and executed effectively to support on-time delivery and high customer service standards.
The Logistics Coordinator works closely with Sales, Production, and Warehouse teams to confirm order readiness and delivery schedules, while assisting in the coordination of shipments using both the company's local transportation fleet and third-party carriers for deliveries outside the service area.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Transportation Coordination Support
  • Assist in coordinating and scheduling daily outbound shipments to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Create loads, track, and monitor carrier status to ensure timely pickup and delivery.
  • Coordinate scheduling delivery and pickup appointments and updating changes in real time.
  • Facilitate monitoring shipment progress and communicate delays or service issues as directed

Carrier and Fleet Coordination Support
  • Coordinate local deliveries utilizing the company's transportation fleet
  • Support the sourcing and coordination of third-party carriers for shipments outside the service area
  • Maintaining relationships with carriers to support consistent service levels
  • Facilitate rate requests and carrier communication as needed

Communication and Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Act as the communication link between Sales, Production, and Warehouse teams to ensure alignment on order readiness and delivery schedules
  • Provide updates on delivery status, delays, and changes to internal stakeholders
  • Communicate with carriers and drivers regarding delivery expectations and schedule changes as directed

Issue Resolution Support
  • Assist in identifying and resolving transportation issues such as delays, missed appointments, and routing challenges
  • Communicate and document service disruptions and corrective actions
  • Escalate issues to the Transportation Planning Lead as appropriate

Administrative and Documentation Support
  • Maintain accurate shipment records, tracking information, and delivery documentation
  • Monitor transportation-related emails and phone calls and respond in a timely manner
  • Request and file of Proof of Delivery (POD) and related documentation

Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide support for after-hours coverage as needed based on operational requirements

Perform other duties as assigned to support transportation and logistics operations
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional logistics or supply chain education is a plus
  • 1-3 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or coordination role preferred
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations, including Hours of Service and transportation compliance requirements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Problem-solving ability with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support changing priorities
  • Willingness to learn and develop within transportation operations
  • Candidates must successfully pass post-offer/pre-employment drug test, and background screen.

Experience working with third-party carriers or transportation operations
Exposure to food distribution or time-sensitive delivery environments
Familiarity with dispatch or transportation coordination processes
Work Environment & Expectations
Fast-paced, operations-driven environment requiring frequent coordination across departments
May require early mornings, evenings, weekends, or extended hours based on business needs
