Job description

Description
  • supporting Transportation operations by processing inbound purchase orders (POs) and assigning them to the appropriate store delivery trip
  • assigning backhaul POs to outbound trips and creating backhaul appointments (vendor to Publix) in a time-sensitive manner to ensure that product is picked up by our Publix drivers in time to make scheduled deliveries into our Publix warehouses
  • reviewing and updating planned driver scheduling
  • reviewing and approving each Transportation Management System (TMS) load consolidation and routing session to validate session content and route accuracy
  • managing and maintaining all department and regulatory compliance related documentation
  • providing support and back-up duties of administrative and system support tasks in the department, including return centers for small Transportation Operation locations
  • editing and verifying all Driver Trip Sheets to ensure information is recorded properly and Publix truck drivers are accurately compensated for their work
  • reviewing the planned daily scheduling of delivery and pickup schedules to identify opportunities such as missing orders, inefficient routes, special delivery needs, temporary road closures, local events, etc.

Other Compensation Information
  • Night differential - A $.75 per hour night differential is paid to associates regularly scheduled to work any hours between midnight and 3:00 a.m. (this does not include shifts that end at midnight or begin at 3:00 A.M.)
  • Weekend differential: A $2.00 per hour weekend differential is paid to associates for hours worked between 12:00 a.m. Saturday through 11:59 p.m. Sunday.

Year End Bonus
To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in November.
In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
In subsequent years, the bonus is equal to two weeks' pay.
Required Qualifications

  • have at least one year of experience working in distribution, transportation, or an analytical field
  • be able to work nights
  • have knowledge of software, systems, and applications used in the Transportation Operations
  • have knowledge of truck driver pay system (activity-based compensation with engineered labor standards)
  • have knowledge of Federal DOT regulations
  • have knowledge of complex activity based engineered standards
  • have knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications
  • have knowledge of warehouse receiving operations and impact on transportation
  • have knowledge of payroll processes and worker's compensation concepts
  • have knowledge or general office practices (typing, filing, phone etiquette, etc.)
  • ability to work flexible hours and be available on weekends or holidays
  • ability to work extended periods of time
  • ability to work independently
  • ability to be detailed-orientated
  • ability to act in a professional manner
  • ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information and matters
