Job description

Work arrangement: Remote within the United States, with potential international travel
Engagement: Contingent, part-time/on-call specialist

Opportunity

Axyde Analytics is assembling a multidisciplinary expert team for anticipated U.S. government-funded project-scoping assignments involving critical minerals and international infrastructure.

We seek specialists capable of evaluating uranium resources, mining and recovery, nuclear-material supply chains, radioactive or naturally occurring radioactive material, radiological protection, waste management and related regulatory risks.

Potential assignments may involve conventional uranium mines, in-situ recovery, uranium or thorium associated with rare-earth and heavy-mineral projects, phosphate byproducts, mineral-processing residues, nuclear-grade zirconium or other radiologically significant materials.

Axyde does not expect one candidate to cover every technical and regulatory discipline. Applicants should identify the materials, facilities and radiological-risk areas in which they possess direct, demonstrable expertise.

Specialist Tracks

We are recruiting experts in one or more of the following tracks:

  • Uranium economic geology and deposit models

  • Resource estimation and reserve confidence

  • Open-pit and underground uranium mining

  • In-situ recovery and wellfield development

  • Acid and alkaline uranium leaching

  • Ion exchange, solvent extraction and yellowcake production

  • Uranium conversion and nuclear-fuel-cycle interfaces

  • Thorium, monazite and radioactive rare-earth feedstocks

  • NORM and technologically enhanced NORM

  • Radiation characterization and dose assessment

  • Worker protection, monitoring and contamination control

  • Radioactive-residue, tailings and water management

  • Transport, storage, safeguards and material accountability

  • Nuclear-grade zirconium, hafnium and related materials

  • Radiological licensing and regulatory strategy

  • Mine closure, remediation and long-term stewardship

  • Emergency planning and radiological incident response

  • Independent nuclear-material and radiological-risk review

Potential Responsibilities

Depending on the assignment and specialist track, selected experts may:

  • Evaluate uranium or radioactive-material resource quality, quantity and confidence.

  • Review geology, mineralogy, drilling, sampling, assays and radiometric data.

  • Assess conventional mining or in-situ-recovery alternatives.

  • Evaluate hydrogeology, lixiviant behavior, wellfield design, recovery and restoration requirements.

  • Review leaching, ion exchange, solvent extraction, precipitation and yellowcake production.

  • Assess uranium, thorium and radioactive-element deportment through processing circuits.

  • Evaluate radiation fields, contamination pathways, worker exposure and monitoring requirements.

  • Review tailings, residues, water, ventilation, containment and waste-management systems.

  • Assess transport, storage, security, safeguards and material-accountability requirements.

  • Evaluate applicable host-country licensing, regulatory and institutional capacity.

  • Review nuclear-grade material specifications and customer-qualification requirements where relevant.

  • Assess closure, remediation, groundwater restoration and long-term stewardship obligations.

  • Identify fatal flaws, decisive evidence gaps and additional studies required before advancement.

  • Translate radiological concerns into feasibility-study, technical-assistance or pilot-project tasks.

  • Contribute to capital-cost, operating-cost, schedule and implementation assumptions for required safeguards.

  • Evaluate whether proposed controls are practical in the host-country environment.

  • Participate in sponsor, government, laboratory, regulator, engineering or financing-source discussions.

  • Support international meetings, site visits and field verification when required.

  • Prepare concise radiological and nuclear-material findings for senior government decision-makers.

  • Serve as a discipline lead, contributor, same-discipline alternate or independent technical reviewer.

Required Qualifications

Candidates should possess:

  • At least 7–10 years of directly relevant uranium, nuclear-material, radiological-protection, NORM or radioactive-waste experience.

  • A degree in geology, mining engineering, nuclear engineering, health physics, radiological engineering, metallurgy, chemical engineering, hydrogeology or a closely related field.

  • Direct responsibility for identifiable uranium, nuclear-material, rare-earth, mineral-sands, phosphate, remediation or radiological-risk projects.

  • Demonstrated ability to connect resource or feed characteristics, process design, radiological exposure, waste management, regulation, cost and implementation risk.

  • Knowledge of recognized radiation-protection, nuclear-material or radioactive-waste practices applicable to the candidate’s specialty.

  • Strong written and verbal English-language communication skills.

  • Ability to prepare concise, decision-oriented technical work.

  • Ability to collaborate across geology, processing, environmental, safety, regulatory, commercial and financial disciplines.

  • Either U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent-resident status in the United States.

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally when an assignment requires it.

  • No known employment, security, confidentiality, intellectual-property, noncompete, export-control or conflict-of-interest restriction that would prevent participation.

Certified Health Physicist, Professional Engineer, Qualified Person or comparable credentials are advantageous but not mandatory when supported by substantial relevant experience.
