Job description

Kingsland Public Schools is accepting applications for a Transportation Director beginning July 1st, 2026. Candidates must possess or be willing to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a Passenger and School Bus Endorsement. 
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; strong problem-solving abilities; and familiarity with technology management systems such as Google Apps and Absence Management Systems. A cooperative, professional approach and the ability to foster Kingsland School pride and positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage all day-to-day functions and activities of school transportation and central vehicle maintenance areas.
  • Oversee the screening and training of bus drivers and van drivers, and ensure that all transportation staff are in full compliance with performance standards and procedures and all Minnesota DOT rules and regulations regarding the safe operation of school buses.
  • Ensure that the critical Special Education transportation needs and requirements are met and that all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to these transportation operations are complied with at all times.
  • Collaborate and work closely with the Business Manager in the establishment and planning of the Transportation budget.
  • Plan and control staffing and perform other human resources tasks for assigned employees.
  • Provide approved supervision, mentoring, and professional growth and development opportunities to assigned staff.
  • Conduct staff performance reviews and develop and implement professional growth plans.
  • Use standard automotive and bus equipment.
  • Work in a standard school bus transportation environment.

Salary: $52,000-$66,000, depending upon previous experience and education.
