Job description

Transportation Manager

Summary: The Transportation Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of goods and/or passengers, ensuring optimal route planning, fleet maintenance, and compliance with safety regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all third-party transportation providers, including Full Truckload (FTL), Partial Truckload (PTL), Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Small Parcel and specialized freight carriers.
  • Coordinate and oversee freight movement to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of products to customers and company locations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with transportation providers, brokers, and logistics partners.
  • Negotiate transportation rates, contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and operational efficiencies.
  • Monitor carrier performance, service levels, claims, and on-time delivery metrics, addressing issues proactively.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments including Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Warehousing, and Purchasing to support business objectives and customer commitments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for transportation-related issues, providing exceptional support and communication to internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze freight spending and transportation data to identify opportunities for cost reduction, service improvements, and process optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable transportation regulations, carrier requirements, and company policies.
  • Manage transportation claims, freight discrepancies, and service recovery efforts when necessary.
  • Develop and manage transportation budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, market conditions, carrier capacity, and transportation best practices.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in transportation management or a similar role, preferably in the relevant industry.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Amusement/Vending Industry experience a plus, but not necessary.
