POSITION SUMMARY──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────Thompson Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated Transportation Engineer with 5–10 years of experience to join our growing transportation design team in our Tuscaloosa, AL office. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in roadway and transportation design and will play a key role in supporting and leading projects from concept through construction.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────• Prepare roadway and transportation designs, plans, and specifications using OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD Civil 3D.• Support and lead design efforts for municipal, state DOT, and private transportation projects.• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including survey, environmental, and structural staff.• Develop project deliverables including cost estimates, quantities, and design reports.• Serve as a task leader or project engineer on complex assignments.• Assist with client coordination, project management, and mentoring of junior engineers or designers.QUALIFICATIONS──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.• 5–10 years of professional experience in transportation or roadway design.• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer or Civil 3D is preferred.• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred (not required for consideration).• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple priorities.
