Job description

Position Summary:
The Production Supervisor is the main point of contact between production employees on the manufacturing floor and management. They collaborate with the division’s management team and HR to hire, train, and coach employees, as well as assist in staffing forecasts.

Essential Functions:

  • Schedules daily workflow for both employees and materials, ensures there is a sustainable workflow and clear expectations for either Day Shift or Swing Shift.
  • Supervises all production activities performed by employees; maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees throughout the shift.
  • Forecasts staffing needs to meet peak demands of the business and staff team accordingly; trains, motivates, coaches, rewards, and disciplines employees being supervised with guidance from Production Manager; resolves personnel issues and involves Human Resources, when necessary.
  • Establishes and maintains department standards for productivity, quality, reliability, on-time delivery, and accuracy.
  • Coordinates with quality control to maintain quality standards; takes appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and Division General Management to manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training.

 

Marginal Functions:

  • Assists Division General Management with development and implementation of policies and procedures; ensures all employees follow established policies and procedures.
  • Resolves production-related issues with Sales and Customer Service
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
  • Maintains safety programs and all required safety training for employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Production Manager.

Education/Knowledge/Skill Requirements:

Required

  • 2 to 4 years of manufacturing experience in the crating or packing industries,  warehousing, or similar industry equivalent
  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating direct reports, including corrective action and training processes
  • Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner in English and Spanish
  • Proven proficiency in MS Office Suite and ability to learn new software (Sage, Ops Center, Crate Maker)
  • Strong Analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to excellence
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to understand safety requirements and promote a safety culture
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends
  • Possess a reliable form of transportation.
