Pay: $23–$30 per hour, based on experience

Schedule: Monday–Friday | Day Shift | Overtime Available

Are you mechanically skilled and interested in specialized drivetrain repair?

Sadler Power Train is hiring a Transmission & Differential Rebuild Technician for our Davenport location. This is a hands-on bench technician position working in a clean, modern shop rebuilding transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, and related drivetrain components.

Candidates with previous transmission or differential rebuilding experience are strongly encouraged to apply. We will also consider mechanically experienced individuals who have strong troubleshooting abilities and are interested in learning this specialized trade.

What You’ll Do

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, and related drivetrain components
  • Disassemble customer and stock units for inspection
  • Identify worn, damaged, or failed components
  • Complete necessary repairs and rebuild units according to specifications
  • Measure, inspect, clean, and prepare components for reassembly
  • Work closely with the department manager to resolve technical concerns
  • Maintain accurate communication with the service writer, parts department, and management
  • Cross-train in other shop assignments as needed
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
  • Follow established safety and quality procedures

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair ability
  • Experience rebuilding transmissions, differentials, transfer cases, engines, or similar mechanical assemblies is preferred
  • Automotive, diesel, heavy-equipment, agricultural-equipment, or industrial mechanical experience is helpful
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and follow repair specifications
  • Ability to use hand tools, precision measuring tools, and shop equipment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to stay focused in a productive shop environment
  • Dependable attendance and a team-oriented attitude
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently after training

Experienced applicants: transmission rebuilders, differential technicians, drivetrain technicians, and heavy-duty truck technicians.

Trainable applicants: diesel mechanics, automotive technicians, agricultural-equipment mechanics, heavy-equipment mechanics, engine rebuilders, and mechanically skilled assembly technicians.

Physical Requirements

This position regularly requires standing, bending, reaching, gripping tools, and lifting or moving drivetrain components with appropriate equipment and assistance.
