Job Details

The Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Cancer Biology seeks a full-time, non-tenure-track Research Assistant Professor to support and advance the research program of an established Principal Investigator. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing studies in cancer biology, pharmacology, physiology, and related biomedical disciplines through experimental design, data analysis, scientific publication, grant support activities, and laboratory leadership. This position is research-focused and is expected to work collaboratively within the Principal Investigator's research enterprise while contributing to the overall academic and scientific mission of the department.
This appointment does not carry a requirement to establish an independent research program. Funding for the position is expected to be supported through externally funded research grants and other sponsored research activities.
Responsibilities:
• Design, conduct, and oversee laboratory-based and translational research
projects in support of the Principal Investigator's funded research program.
• Develop and implement experimental approaches, analyze and interpret
scientific data, and maintain accurate and reproducible research records.
• Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, presentations, grant
applications, progress reports, and other scholarly materials.
• Assist in managing laboratory operations, including research personnel,
budgets, equipment, and scientific resources.
• Supervise and mentor research staff, trainees, graduate students, and
postdoctoral fellows as appropriate.
• Collaborate with faculty, trainees, and research personnel within PPCB and
across Jefferson research programs.
• Ensure compliance with institutional policies and regulatory requirements
governing research activities, including biosafety, animal welfare, human
subjects protections, and research integrity.
• Participate in departmental seminars, educational activities, committee
service, and other academic functions as appropriate.
• Contribute scientific expertise to support the continued growth and success of
the Principal Investigator's research portfolio.

Job Description

Qualifications:
 

• PhD, MD, or MD/PhD degree in cancer biology, pharmacology, physiology,

biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related biomedical discipline.

• Relevant postdoctoral research experience.

• Demonstrated record of scientific productivity, including peer-reviewed

publications appropriate to career stage.

• Experience with laboratory research methodologies and data analysis relevant to

the position.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.

• Demonstrated organizational, leadership, mentoring, and project management
  skills.

• Experience contributing to federally funded, foundation-funded, or

industry-sponsored research programs is preferred.
 

Education Required:
PhD, MD, or MD/PhD from an accredited institution in a field relevant to biomedical research.
