Security Officer


Job Summary: Security Officer monitors and assures a safe environment for customers and employees at the Memorial Midtown Station, Denver Avenue Station and public transportation vehicles. Maintain knowledge of safe work practice, including reporting of unsafe conditions.

Essential Functions:

  1. Knows MetroLink Tulsa’s policies, procedures, and practices.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of all company, customer and personnel related information.
  3. Actively walks around and monitors the transfer stations and bays to ensure the safety of all customers and employees during the hours of operation.
  4. Actively monitors the security camera system and immediately reports any malfunctions to the Security Manager.
  5. Coordinate with the Safety Director if pictures from the security camera system need to be obtained.
  6. Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect for the rights of others.
  7. Analyze situations quickly and objectively and determine a proper course of action to be taken.
  8. Reports any problems to Security Manager.
  9. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  10. Ability to write and speak effectively.
  11. Complies with security regulations of MetroLink Tulsa.
  12. Must report to work on a regular and timely basis.
  13. Investigates vehicular accidents involving MetroLink Tulsa vehicles.
  14. Performs other incidental duties as may be assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge - CLEET Certification Phase I & II required, Phase IV recommended. Oklahoma Driver’s License and good driving record required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Working knowledge of local, state, and federal security regulations is required. Experience in the field of security is preferred.

Mental Effort - Requires the ability to handle numerous activities at one time. Ability to understand and interpret local, state, and federal regulations is essential. Must have the ability to interact in a positive manner with all MTTA personnel and the public.

Physical - Must be able to pass a drug screen and physical and perform various physical activities that include walking, standing, kneeling and bending with no impairment in movement of head and eyes. However, there are some periods of sitting in the course of a normal workday. Requires ability to withstand exposure to negative surroundings such as uncomfortable weather conditions, dust, and engine fumes. May be required to lift or push 50 pounds.

Audible/Visual Demands - Requires ability to hear and see; visually perform essential functions for satisfactory job performance. Ability to view the premises and the customers to ensure a safe environment.

Miscellaneous - Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary. Must be safety conscious and avoid accidents if possible.
