Overview
A School Bus Driver interacts daily with children and serves as their trusted transportation to and from In The Zone. He or she should have an authoritative yet calming demeanor and a strong understanding of traffic laws.
Role and Responsibilities
  • Able to drive school bus through pre-established route and schedule
  • Adhering to transit laws and ensuring the safety of passengers
  • Properly regulating lighting, heating and ventilation system inside the vehicle
  • Parking vehicles at the designated areas
  • Inspecting the vehicle prior departures like checking the brake, wiper, light fluid level, cooling system, gas, and oil
  • Assisting passengers during an emergency and providing first aid if necessary
  • Reporting emergencies, delays, and accidents and requesting assistance if needed
  • Being attentive to traffic and weather condition
  • Aware using first aid procedures
  • Perfrom bus inspections prior to and after route

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Must possess a commercial driving license with Air Brake Certification
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • More than 2 years of driving experience is required
  • No accident reports in the last 5 years
  • Require high school diploma/GED
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Not more than 3 moving violation including drugs or alcohol in the last 36 months
  • Working knowledge of the local route and transit route
  • Punctual, reliable and must have strong communication skill
  • Reliable Transportation to and from work
  • Must be eligible and pass MSDH Background Check
Physical Requirements
  • Walking, squatting, climbing, hearing, sitting and or standing for periods longer than one hour, pushing (50 lbs.), lifting (50 lbs.), pulling (50 lbs.), clear speech and good vision
  • Must be able to lift and move equipment properly as need arise.
  • Must be physically able to participate in high-energy activities with children
