About the RoleThe Bus Washer is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and readiness of RTS Access transit buses. This position ensures buses are cleaned, fueled, and positioned for daily service while contributing to a safe, efficient, and customer-focused transportation operation. This is a physically demanding position requiring employees to work outdoors and in varying weather conditions.

What You'll Do- Clean and wash the interior and exterior of transit buses.
- Fuel buses according to established procedures.
- Park, move, and position buses for daily service.
- Maintain cleanliness standards that support customer health and safety.
- Operate cleaning equipment, power tools, and hand tools safely.
- Follow all safety procedures and operational guidelines.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure fleet readiness.
- Report equipment issues or vehicle damage to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain a dependable attendance record and arrive to work on time.

What We're Looking ForRequired Qualifications- Valid New York State Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain a Class B Commercial Learner's Permit with Passenger Endorsement and no air brake restriction prior to start date.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills.
- Dependable, punctual, and honest.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Preferred Qualifications- Previous vehicle washing, detailing, janitorial, or fleet maintenance experience.
- Experience working in transportation, automotive, or industrial environments.
- Commercial driving experience (helpful but not required).

- Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Work in noisy environments around moving buses and heavy equipment.
- Ability to hear approaching vehicles, horns, alarms, and verbal communication without direct line of sight.
- Work in dark, dimly lit, confined, wet, and slippery environments.
- Perform repetitive bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, stretching, and overhead reaching.
- Stand and walk for extended periods on hard or uneven surfaces.
- Move quickly throughout buses and work areas.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Use power tools, hand tools, and cleaning equipment safely.
- Maintain productivity while performing physically demanding tasks.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Successful completion of a DOT/FTA-required pre-employment drug test.
- Compliance with RGRTA's zero-tolerance drug and alcohol policy throughout employment.
- Ability to meet all applicable DOT and FTA safety-sensitive position requirements.
