POSITION SUMMARY: This field position provides daily transit of passengers to and from assigned pick-ups and drop-off points per contract requirements. MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE DRIVING MOTOR COACH BUSES.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding the operation of commercial vehicles.
  • Safely operate a transit or coach bus on an assigned route as directed. Demonstrate courtesy and professionalism while on the road.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections as required by DOT regulations.
  • Report mechanical defects to the appropriate shop staff.
  • Maintain, read, and understand route sheets, including time changes.
  • Maintain scheduled route to established time and mileage. Immediately notify the supervisor of changes/delays.
  • Maintain control of passengers at all times to ensure safe operation of the vehicle. Record and report incidents/problems through the appropriate procedures established by the Company.
  • When transporting special needs/exceptional passengers, manage care and behavior within the guidelines established by the state.
  • Report all vehicle and passenger accidents/incidents to your supervisor promptly and comply with company accident response procedures.
  • Report work-related injuries to the supervisor and comply with the company's workers’ compensation procedures.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license, physical exam certification, and appropriate endorsements.
  • Comply with company procedures regarding vehicle keys, lock boxes, and video cameras.
  • Attend training and safety meetings as required by federal and state regulations and by the Company.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and orderly daily.
  • Fuel the bus following terminal standards.
  • Operate vehicle communication systems within the guidelines of company policies.
  • Report all personal motor vehicle violations to the supervisor, and as required by DOT regulations.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:


  • 1. Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid CDL Class B license with passenger endorsement and Airbrake restriction removed.
  • 2. Must meet physical qualifications for a DOT physical and drug test.
  • 3. Must have a satisfactory motor vehicle record, criminal history record, and child abuse history record.
  • 4. Must be willing to work 10-12 hour days at least 3 days a week (Part-time) and (Full-time) at least 4 days, 10-12 hour days.
  • 5. Schedule includes weekends and holidays on rotation.
  • 6. Ability to effectively manage passenger behavior in a non-confrontational manner.
  • 7. Ability to manage vehicle and passenger emergencies calmly and appropriately.
  • 8. Ability to safely load and unload wheelchair passengers, following Company procedures.
  • 9. Operate a lift for passengers who cannot navigate the bus steps.
  • 10. Must successfully complete required skills and classroom recertification training. Must complete International Motor Coach Group (IMG) training
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sitting for 4-8 hours per day.
  • Must pass DOT Physical.
  • Vision adequate for reading traffic signals and signs, maps, and schedules.
  • Hearing is adequate for general traffic conditions, traffic signals, emergency vehicles, and monitoring and using vehicle communication equipment.
  • Range of motion is adequate for the safe operation of commercial vehicles.
  • Range of motion and sufficient mobility to safely evacuate passengers, including but not limited to access emergency exits via the aisles of the vehicle.
  • Repetitive use of hands, arms, and legs for operating vehicle controls.
  • Ability to climb the steps of the bus and sufficient mobility to access vehicle emergency exits.
  • Ability to reach overhead & to shoulder height and to push/pull to clear the vehicle of ice and snow.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to conduct vehicle inspections.
  • Ability to push & pull with up to 40 lbs. of force
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
